Dunkirk Lane - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic
What is happening?

(DUNKIRK LANE, MOSS SIDE, SOUTH RIBBLE BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of B5248 Dunkirk Lane, Moss Side from a point 355 metres in a westerly direction from its junction with Longmeanygate, Leyland for a distance of 210 metres in a westerly direction.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours on Monday 1st December 2025 until 1700 hours on Wednesday 3rd December 2025 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
B5248 Dunkirk Lane - B5253 Schleswig Way - B5253 Leyland Lane - A581 Southport Road - B5249 Moor Road - B5247 Bretherton Road - B5247 Flag Lane - B5247 South Road - B5248 North Road - B5248 Cocker Bar Road - B5248 Dunkirk Lane and Vice Versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow disconnection of old lead supply and connection of new water works to be carried out.
