Westmorland and Furness - Temporary Road Closures due to Highway Works

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL

(VARIOUS ROADS, SOUTH LAKELAND LOCALITY AREA)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) (NO.20) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out ("the Works"), Westmorland and Furness Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists) from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.

Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force.

The Order will come into operation on 15th November 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that restrictions will only be required for 1 month and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

1. U5693 Cartmel & C5042 Haggs Lane - (Ref: TTROW/16176)

U5692 Cartmel from its junction with the B5277 leading into the C5042 Haggs Lane, extending in a north westerly direction for a total of approx. 2.4km.

Alternative Route: via the B5277, C5040, C5041 and the unrestricted section of the C5042 Haggs Lane.

2. Hazelrigg Lane, Newby Bridge - (Ref: TTROW/16177)

From its junction with the U5192, extending in a south easterly direction for approx 1km.

Alternative Route: via the U5192, A590, C5041 Back Lane and Palace Lane.

3. C5004 Elterwater - (Ref: TTROW/16179)

From its junction with the B5343, extending in a south westerly then overall south easterly direction for approx. 2.9km.

Alternative Route: via the B5343 and the A593.

4. C5041 Cartmel - (Ref: TTROW/16180)

From its junction with the C5040, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 2.2km.

Alternative Route: via the C5040, B5277 & B5278.

5. C5046 Back O Fell Road, Lindale (Ref: TTROW/16181)

From its junction with the Holme Road, extending in a south easterly direction for approx 3km.

Alternative Route: via the B5277, A590, U5623 and the unrestricted section of the C5046.

6. C5042 Grange Fell Road, Grange over Sands (Ref: TTROW/16182)

From its junction with Cartmel Road, extending in an easterly direction for approx. 690m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the C5042, C5041, C5040, B5277, Hampsfell Road and Pig Lane.
