Reading - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Utility Works
What is happening?
READING BOROUGH COUNCIL
(CASTLE HILL) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025
Reading Borough Council intend to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily impose the following restrictions as follows:
• From Coley Hill: Prohibition of right turn eastbound onto Castle Hill.
• From Jesse Terrace: Prohibition of right turn westbound onto Castle Hill.
If made, the Order will take effect from 01–12 December 2025 and will remain in force for 12 months. Should the works extend beyond the anticipated duration, the Order may remain in force for up to 18 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is sooner. The Order is required to repair district meter. A signed diversion route will be in place.
(ALBANY ROAD) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025
Reading Borough Council intend to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily:
• Close Albany Road from its junction with Oxford Road to the end point of the red-route restriction and suspend the single direction restriction between its junctions with Oxford Road and Prince of Wales Avenue.
• Suspend the existing parking restrictions in the following bays:
- From the side of 385 Oxford Road to 1 Albany Road.
- Outside numbers 8–14, 34–40, 54–60 and 74–80 Albany Road.
• Impose a no stopping, waiting or loading/unloading restriction within the parking bays specified above.
If made, the Order will come into force from 24 November – 5 December 2025. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary to facilitate the replacement of damaged electricity network apparatus.
