Wiltshire – Temporary Road Closures and Traffic Calming Works
What is happening?
SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:
A) C56 (Part), Winterbourne; from its junction with High Post Road for a distance of approximately 100m in a south westerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out works.
Alternative route via C56 (unaffected length) – A345 – C286 – A338 – C56 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 08 December 2025, and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 for 1 day. B) C295 (Part), Donhead St Mary; from its junction with A30 to its junction with Charlton Lane to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway retreading and associated works. Alternative route via C295 (unaffected length) – C312 – A30 and vice versa.

C) Manor Road (Part), Salisbury; from its junction with Kelsey Road to its junction with Rougemont Close to enable SGN to carry out gas main replacement and associated works. Alternative route via Manor Road (unaffected length) – Wain a long road – Wessex Road – Kelsey Road and vice versa. D) The Street, Pitton and Farley; from its junction with Lucewood Lane to its junction with Ben Lane to enable Wessex Internet to carry out communication equipment repairs and associated works. Alternative route via Church Lane – Parsonage Hill and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 08 December 2025, and the closure will be required until 12 December 2025. E) A338 (Part), Odstock; from its junction with Lower Road to its junction with C12 to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing and associated works. Alternative route via A338 (unaffected length) – A31 – A36 – A338 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 09 December 2025, and the closure will be required between the hours of 19:00 and 07:00 until 15 December 2025. F) A338 (Part), Laverstock and Ford; from its roundabout junction with A30 to its junction with Old Malthouse Lane to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing and associated work. Alternative route via A338 (unaffected length) – A303 – A345 – A36 – A30 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 17 November 2025, and the closure will be required between the hours of 19:00 and 06:00 until 19 November 2025. G) A30 (Part), Salisbury, Laverstock and Ford; from its roundabout junction with Pearce Way to its roundabout junction with A338 to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing and associated work. Alternative route via A338 – A303 – A345 – A36 – A30 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 17 November 2025, and the closure will be required between the hours of 19:00 and 06:00 until 22 November 2025. H) Sutton Road (Part), Fovant; from its junction with Moor Hill to its junction with Dean Lane to enable Wessex Internet to carry out ducting and associated works. Alternative route via Dean Lane – A30 – C64 – C276 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 17 November 2025, and the closure will be required until 28 November 2025. I) South Lane (Part), Landford; from its property known as Hillcrest for a distance of approximately 85m in a westerly direction to enable Southwest Water to carry out water main and associated works. Alternative route via South Lane (unaffected length) – North Lane – Forest Road – South Lane (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 17 November 2025, and the closure will be required for 3 days. For further information please contact Southwest Water on 03443 462020.
J) Norfolk Road (Part), Salisbury; from its junction with A3094 for a distance of approximately 250m in a southerly direction to enable SGN to carry out gas main and associated works. Alternative route via Wiltshire Road – Parsonage Green – Saxon Road – A3094 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 17 November 2025, and the closure will be required until 12 December 2025. For further information please contact SGN on 0800 19121700.
Orders A) to J) will have a maximum duration of 18 months. The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
1. PEDESTRIAN CROSSING – PEARCE WAY, LAVERSTOCK AND FORD
Notice is hereby given that Wiltshire Council in exercise of its powers under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 proposes a “Parallel Crossing” (a combined pedestrian and cycle crossing which has priority over the road which it crosses), the pedestrian crossing will be 2.4 metres wide and the cycle crossing will be 3 metres wide with a 400mm gap and will be situated on Pearce Way, Laverstock and Ford – from a point 10 metres north west of its junction with Applin Road to a point 52 metres north west of that junction.
HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 – SECTION 90A
2. TRAFFIC CALMING FEATURE – PEARCE WAY, LAVERSTOCK AND FORD
Notice is hereby given that Wiltshire Council in exercise of its powers under Section 90A of the Highways Act 1980 proposes the installation of a Raised Traffic Table. The table will be of carriageway width, 5.4 metres in length with 1.5 metre ramps on either side, will have a maximum height of 100 millimetres, will have a maximum ramp gradient of 1 in 15 and will be situated in Pearce Way, Laverstock and Ford – from a point 23 metres north west of its junction with Applin Road to a point 33 metres north west of that junction.
HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 – SECTION 90A
3. TRAFFIC CALMING FEATURES – ROMAN ROAD, LAVERSTOCK AND FORD
Notice is hereby given that Wiltshire Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 90A of the Highways Act 1980 proposes the installation of Speed Cushions. Each speed cushion will measure 1600 x 1900mm with a ramp length of 600m and a gradient of 1 in 8.6 and will form a method of reducing the speed of vehicles in the interest of road safety. The cushions will be situated on Roman Road, Laverstock and Ford – at a point approximately 33 metres northeast of its junction with Green Lane and Roman Road, Laverstock and Ford – at a point approximately 35 metres south west of its junction with Green Lane.
Deposit copies of the proposals, plan and Statement of the Council’s Reasons for proposing to make the Order may be inspected at the offices of Wiltshire Council, County Hall, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge during normal office hours. Details of the proposed scheme may also be seen at Salisbury Library, Market Walk SP1 1BL during the hours of 10pm to 7pm Monday, 9am to 7pm Tuesday and Friday, 9am to 5pm Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday until 8 December 2025.
