Dorset - Temporary Road Closures due to Utility Works

What is happening?

Temporary Closure of Nottington Lane, Buckland Ripers

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along NOTTINGTON LANE, BUCKLAND RIPERS from its junction with Church Lane for a distance of approximately 1215 metres. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 1 December 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 27 February 2026. Please note the road will be open between 22 December 2025 and 5 January 2026.

This Order will enable Wessex Water, safe access to install new water main in carriageway by means of horizontal directional drilling.

An alternative vehicular route will be signed using; Nottington Lane - B3159 - a354 - B3157 - Nottington Lane.

Temporary Closure of Butt Farm Close, Winterbourne Abbas

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along BUTT FARM CLOSE, WINTERBOURNE ABBAS in its entirety. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 01 December 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 12 December 2025.

This Order will enable Wessex Internet, safe access to carry out fibre cable installation.

On this occasion there will be no specified alternative route for diverted traffic.
