What is happening?
THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD
(BENSHAM ROAD AND LOBLEY HILL ROAD, GATESHEAD) (WAITING RESTRICTIONS) TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER
Notice is hereby given that the Borough Council of Gateshead (“the Council”) proposes to make an Order in exercise of its powers under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 4(2) and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the 1984 Act”), by virtue of the Traffic Management Act 2004 and all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Northumbria Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the 1984 Act. The proposed Order will introduce waiting restrictions as set out in the Schedules below to ensure strategic transport corridors are kept unrestricted from traffic.
The draft Order together with a plan and a statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order may be viewed at the information desk on the ground floor of Gateshead Council’s Civic Centre, Regent Street, Gateshead, NE8 1HH, Monday to Thursday between 8.45am and 5.00pm and Friday between 8.45am and 4.30pm or online at: www.gateshead.gov.uk/trafficschemes. If you wish to object to the proposed Order, you should send the grounds for your objection in writing to be received by the undersigned at the above address on or before 9 December 2025.
