What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL

(VARIOUS ROADS, KENDAL)

(KENDAL MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL TRAIL RACE AND ULTRA)

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to facilitate the holding of the Kendal Mountain Festival Trail Race and Ultra (“the Event”) in Kendal and to enable members of the public to watch the Event, Westmorland and Furness Council has made an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the 1984 Act), the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following lengths of road;

Kendal Mountain Festival

Section 1

(i) A6 Highgate, Kendal from its junction with Finkle Street to its junction with Allhallows Lane; and

(ii) C5048 Allhallows Lane, Kendal from its junction with Highgate to its junction with Beast Banks; and

(iii) C5048 Beast Banks, Kendal from its junction with Allhallows Lane to its junction with East View; and

(iv) C5062 East View, Kendal from its junction with Beast Banks to its junction with Bankfield Road.

Duration: Between 08:30 hours and 11:30 hours on Saturday 22 November 2025.

N.B. The restrictions detailed above (Section I (i to iv)), will be conducted under a rolling road closure, which will be supervised by marshals for the Event in co-ordination with the Police. No alternative route for vehicles will be signed due to the short duration of the required restrictions but delays may be experienced.

Section 2

(i) A6 Highgate and Stricklandgate, Kendal from the junction with Lowther Street, extending in a northerly direction along the A6 Highgate and onto the A6 Stricklandgate to its junction with Library Road.

Duration: Between 07:00 hours and 15:00 hours on Saturday 22 November 2025.

There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on Saturday 22 November 2025 and may continue in force for a period of up to three days from that date as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed, although it is anticipated that it will only be required as stated above.
