Captain French Lane, Kendal, Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles

What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL

(CAPTAIN FRENCH LANE, KENDAL) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of Captain French Lane, Kendal from its junction with the A6 Highgate extending in a westerly direction for a distance approx. 130m.

Alternative Route Eastbound Traffic: via the unrestricted section of Captain French Lane, Gillingate and Highgate.

Alternative Route Westbound Traffic: Highgate, Allhallows Lane, Beast Banks, Brigsteer Road and Bankfield Road, and the unrestricted section of Captain French Lane.

N.B to facilitate the alternative route detailed above the one-way restriction on Captain French Lane will be temporarily suspended, from its junction with Bankfield Road extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 260m.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 30th November 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 1 day and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
