What is happening?

EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

The East Sussex (Public Footpath Bexhill 32b,
Bexhill 67a, Bexhill 67b, Bexhill 68a, Bexhill 68b,
Bexhill 85a (part), Bexhill 85b)

(Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2023 To protect public safety during the construction of a housing development, the Secretary of State has extended the above East Sussex County Council’s Order made on 10 November 2023 under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following footpath:

Temporary Footpath Closure

The whole of Public Footpaths Bexhill 32b, Bexhill 67a, Bexhill 67b, Bexhill 68a, Bexhill 68b and Bexhill 85b will be closed to all users. An alternative route will be available for Bexhill 32b as signed on the ground.

Part of Public Footpath Bexhill 85a will be closed to all users between TQ 7552 0910 and TQ 7543 0897 for a distance of 160 metres. An alternative route will be available for Bexhill 85a as signed on the ground.

The closure will be in force for 18 months from 20 November 2025, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier, which after this period will require an extension from the Secretary of State, should the footpaths still be unavailable to use.

The East Sussex (U6716 Claremont Road, Bexhill)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Claremont Road – at its junction with U6716 Sidley Street.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U6716 Sidley Street, Preston Road – C345 Watermill Lane – A269 Ninfield Road – U6716 Claremont Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 2 December 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 2 and 9 December 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U3202 Alpine Road, Hastings)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Alpine Road – from the junction with U3198 Plynlimmon Road to the junction with U3186 Priory Road. A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U3198 Plynlimmon Road – U3202 Gordon Road – U3186 Priory Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 1 December 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 1 and 10 December 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C23 Friars Hill, Guestling)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025 No.2

To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Friars Hill – from the junction with A259(T) White Hart Hill to the junction with C970 Chapel Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A259(T) White Hart Hill – C970 Chapel Lane and vice versa.

The Order commences 20 November 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 20 November 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U3027 Ghyllside Way, Hastings)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Ghyllside Way – from the junction with U3027 Grange Avenue to the junction with U3029 Parkstone Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U3027 Grange Avenue – U3029 Parkstone Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 20 November 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 20 and 21 November 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U6106 Sluice Road/
Herbrand Walk, Normans Bay/Bexhill)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow Centurion Site Services to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Sluice Road/Herbrand Walk – 15 metres either side of the level crossing.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U6106 Sluice Road, Sluice Lane – A27(T) Pevensey Haven roundabout – A259(T) Marsh Road, Barnhorn Road, Little Common roundabout – B2182 Cooden Sea Road – U6106 Herbrand Walk and vice versa.

The Order commenced 15 December 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 16 and 17 November 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Main Street – from the junction with A268 Rye Road to the junction with U6882 Farleys Way.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A268 Main Street, Rye Road, Rye Hill, Fishmarket Road – A259 Fishmarket roundabout, Fishmarket Road, South Undercliff, Strand Quay, Wish Street roundabout, Winchelsea Road, New Winchelsea Road, Royal Military Road, Tanyard Lane, Ferry Hill, Roberts Hill, Rectory Lane, Hastings Road, Main Road, The Thorne, Rye Road, Winchelsea Road, White Hart Hill, Winchelsea Road, Rye Road, Old London Road, The Bourne, East Beach Street, East Parade, Marine Parade, Sturdee Place, Pelham Place, Breeds Place, Fountain roundabout, Denmark Place – A2101 Albert Road, Queens Road, Park Gates roundabout, St Helens Road – A21 Sedlescombe Road North – A28 Sedlescombe Road North, Westfield Lane, Church Lane, Main Road, Brede Road, Brede Hill, Cackle Street, Northiam Road, Horns Cross, Well House Hill, Perryman Cross, Hastings Road, Main Street, Station Road – A268 Whitebread Lane, Peasmarsh Road, Two Hovens, Barnets Hill, Flackley Ash and vice versa.

The Order commenced 9 September 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 17 and 19 November 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.
