What is happening?

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT (GILBERT BANK, BREDBURY) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) NOTICE 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which introduced a Temporary Prohibition of Driving at Gilbert Bank, Bredbury from the junction of The Meadows to the junction of High Lane, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said road. This Order is necessary to allow for the replacement of signs displaying bridge heights. It is estimated these works will last 1 day. A diversion will be provided via High Lane, Smithy Green, Hyde Road, George Lane and vice versa. This Notice does not prevent local access. This Order will come into operation on 10 November 2025 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
