What is happening?

THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND (ST PETER’S METRO STATION CAR PARK) TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025


NOTICE is given that on 7th November 2025 Sunderland City Council made an Order under Sections 1, 2, 4, 32, 33, 35 – 35C, 99-102 and 122 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, by virtue of the Traffic Management Act 2004 and all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act. The order which comes into effect on 11th November 2025 will introduce paid for parking places in the St Peter’s Metro Station Car Park on Sheepfolds Road. The classes of permitted vehicles are Passenger vehicles, Motor cycles, Invalid Carriages and Goods vehicles not in excess of 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight and charges will be applicable all days except Christmas day and for all hours at a charge of 60p per hour or part thereof or £3.50 per day. Documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order may be inspected during normal opening hours at City Hall, Plater Way, Sunderland SR1 3AA, until six weeks have elapsed from the date on which the Order is made. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under the Act has not been complied with may within six weeks from the date on which the Order is made apply for the purpose to the High Court.
