CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE (NORTHUMBERLAND STREET AREA) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
What is happening?
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne intend, not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit any traffic to proceed on
i - Northumberland Street - for its whole length.
ii - Vine Lane - from its junction with Northumberland Street eastwards for 10 metres.
iii - Haymarket - from its junction with Northumberland Street westwards for 24 metres.
2. For the duration of the Order the one-way restriction on
I. - Northumberland Street between Northumberland Road and Blackett Street is suspended.
ii - Northumberland Road from its junction with Northumberland Street to a point 15 metres eastward.
iii - Haymarket for its entire length will be suspended.
3. For the duration of the Order the no entry on Northumberland Road at its junction with Northumberland Street will be suspended.
4. There is no alternative route for traffic.
5. The order is required to allow works to be carried out on or near the highway.
6. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles and personnel engaged in the said works.
7. The Order will come into operation on 13 December 2025 and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, up to 30 June 2026 or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is the earlier.
