What is happening?

(STODDART STREET AND SHEILDFIELD
LANE AREA) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC
REGULATION ORDER 2025
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the
City of Newcastle upon Tyne intend, not less than
seven days from the date of this Notice, to make an
Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation
Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit any
traffic to proceed on i - Stoddart Street, from Shieldfield
Lane northwards for 85 metres.
ii - Shieldfield Lane, from Stoddart Street eastwards for
95 metres.
2. The alternative route for traffic will be signed on site as
required.
3. The order is required to allow works to be carried out
on or near the highway.
4. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles and personnel
engaged in the said works.
5. The Order will come into operation on 7 December
2025 at 06:00 and will continue, as and when the
relevant traffic signs are displayed, up to 7 December
2025 at 15:00 or until the proposed works are
completed, whichever is the earlier.
