Essex, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Various Roads, District of Uttlesford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) (Streetworks No.9) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close those lengths of road in the District of Uttlesford, as detailed in the Schedule.

The works are scheduled to commence after 13th November 2025, as stated on a valid permit. The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on One.Network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.

The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while micro ducting works are undertaken by Gigaclear.

The Order will come into effect on 13th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

Cow Lane, Great Chesterford From its junction with Walden Road to its end a distance of approximately 2030m. No Alternative Route.
Burton Wood Lane, Great Chesterford From its junction with Cow Lane to its end a distance of approximately 710m. No Alternative Route.
Chestnut Avenue, Littlebury From its junction with London Road for a distance of approximately 815m in a western then mostly western direction. B1383, Littlebury Green Road, Strethall Road, Littlebury Green Road, Chestnut Avenue and vice versa.
Bartlow Road, Ashdon From its junction with Steven End to its junction with Knox End Cottage Road a distance of approximately 530m. Church Hill, Walden Road, Ashdon Road, B1053, B1054, B1057, A1071, A1307, Bartlow Road and vice versa.

(Butlers Lane, Saffron Walden) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Butlers Lane, Saffron Walden in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 60m north west of its junction with Ashdon Road for a distance of approximately 60m in north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 25th November 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (FN49557554065 – National Highways). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while structure inspection works are undertaken by National Highways.

No diversion route is available.

The Order came into effect on 30th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Cole End Lane, Sewards End) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Cole End Lane, Sewards End in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 390m south west then south east then south west of its junction with The Dreys for a distance of approximately 100m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 19th November 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WGGF6H8L – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Cole End Lane, B1053, B184 and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 30th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Duck Street, Wendens Ambo) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Duck Street, Wendens Ambo in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Rookery Lane for a distance of approximately 135m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 17th November 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (KA410FRS259784-RC – Gigaclear). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while fibre works are undertaken by Gigaclear.

An alternative route is available via Duck Street, B1039, B1383, Rookery Lane and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 30th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Littlebury Green Road, Littlebury) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Littlebury Green Road, Littlebury in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 530m south west of its junction with Chapel Green Road for a distance of approximately 85m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 24th November 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WG3KWM0B – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole renewal works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Littlebury Green Road, Chestnut Avenue, London Road, Station Road, Royston Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 30th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Park Road, Little Easton) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Park Road, Little Easton in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 395m south west of its junction with Mill End for a distance of approximately 210m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 19th November 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX06164267JB – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

An alternative route is available via Laundry Lane, Duck Street and vice versa (with access only into Park Road).

The Order came into effect on 30th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
