Essex, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Braintree Green, Braintree) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Braintree Green, Braintree in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 170m south east of its junction with Gore Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 2nd December 2025 for 7 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD0316637693 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while stop tap replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via Braintree Green, Queenborough Lane, Avenue East, Business Park Link, Garden Village Way Roundabout, A131, B1256, Rayne Road, Gore Road, Braintree Green and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 13th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Scrip’s Road, Coggeshall) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Scrip’s Road, Coggeshall in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Kelvedon Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 2nd December 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD0310165121 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while remedial works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via:

  1. B1024, Scrip’s Road (NB with vice versa for Scrip’s Road from Cuthedge Lane).

  2. B1024 West Street, A120 (NB works also active on The Street, Church Road, Cuthedge Lane, Scrip’s Road) and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 13th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Various Roads, District of Braintree) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (No.16) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close those lengths of road in the District of Braintree as specified in the Schedule.

  2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above lengths of road for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

“The Essex County Council (Braintree District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 13th November 2025 exact dates will be specified on One.Network. The roads will be closed for the duration of the works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and will vary for each location where applicable. Advance warning signs will be placed.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Bradford Street, Braintree and Bocking in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Courtauld Road to its junction with Church Lane a distance of approximately 570m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 19th November 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2387115 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway repair works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via B1053, A131, B1256, Courtauld Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 30th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Fuller Street, Fairstead & Braintree Road, Terling) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Fuller Street, Fairstead & Braintree Road, Terling in the District of Braintree, from the junction of Fairstead Lodge Road to the junction of Fairstead Hall Road a distance of approximately 1350m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 20th November 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2388688 & EP201EH2388697 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway repair works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Fairstead Lodge Road, Ranks Green Road, Fairstead Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 30th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Star Lane, Great Dunmow) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Star Lane, Great Dunmow in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with The Downs for a distance of approximately 35m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 24th November 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX04410284467RC-01 – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while valve and hydrant installation works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

An alternative route is available via The Downs, Star Lane and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 30th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
