Argyll & Bute, Temporary Speed Restrictions For Road Safety

What is happening?

THE A83 TRUNK ROAD (ARDRISHAIG) (TEMPORARY 20MPH AND 40MPH SPEED RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025

THE SCOTTISH MINISTERS give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1), 4(1) and 14(1)(b) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will have the effect of imposing temporary 20mph and 40mph speed restrictions on the following lengths of road:

20MPH

That length of the A83 Tarbet – Lochgilphead – Campbeltown Trunk Road at Ardrishaig from a point 32 metres or thereby south of the extended centre line of its junction with Oakfield Road to a point 306 metres or thereby north of the extended centre line of its northernmost junction with East Bank Road, a distance of 1.232 kilometres or thereby.

40MPH

That length of the A83 Tarbet – Lochgilphead – Campbeltown Trunk Road at Ardrishaig from a point 660 metres or thereby south of the extended centre line of its junction with Oakfield Road to a point 1.426 kilometres or thereby south of the extended centre line of its junction with Oakfield Road, a distance of 770 metres or thereby.

The Order, which is required in the interest of road safety, will be in operation from 7th November 2025 until 7th May 2027, and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

The Order does not apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations; or vehicles being used in an emergency for coastguard purposes.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

An alternative route is not required.

THE A85 TRUNK ROAD (CONNEL) (TEMPORARY 20MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) ORDER 2025

THE SCOTTISH MINISTERS give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1), 4(1) and 14(1)(b) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(a), which will impose a temporary 20mph speed restriction on that length of the A85 Tyndrum to Oban Trunk Road at Connel from a point 24 metres or thereby west of the extended centre line of the junction with A828 to a point 115 metres or thereby east of the extended centre line of the junction with Achaeleven Road, a distance of 758 metres or thereby.

The Order, which is required in the interest of road safety, will be in operation from 7th November 2025 until 7th May 2027 and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

The Order does not apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations, or vehicles being used in an emergency for coastguard purposes.

THE A82/A83 TRUNK ROAD (TARBET) (TEMPORARY 20MPH AND 30MPH SPEED RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025

THE SCOTTISH MINISTERS give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1), 4(1) and 14(1)(b) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will have the effect of imposing temporary 20mph and 30mph speed restrictions on the following lengths of road:

20MPH

  1. That length of the A82 Dalnottar – Inverness Trunk Road at Tarbet from a point 114 metres or thereby south of the extended centre line of its junction with the A83 in a generally northerly direction to its junction with the A83 and thereafter in a generally easterly direction to a point 225 metres or thereby east of the extended centre line of its junction with Old Military Road, a distance of 703 metres or thereby.

  2. That length of the A83 Tarbet - Lochgilphead - Campbeltown Trunk Road at Tarbet from a point at its junction with the A82 to a point 155 metres or thereby east of the extended centre line of its junction with Ballyhennan Crescent, a distance of 230 metres or thereby.

30MPH

3. That length of the A82 Dalnottar - Inverness Trunk Road at Tarbet from a point 114 metres or thereby south of the extended centre line of its junction with the A83 to a point 584 metres or thereby south of the extended centre line of its junction with the A83, a distance of 470 metres or thereby.

The Order, which is required in the interest of road safety, will be in operation from 7th November 2025 until 7th May 2027, and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of the length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
