What is happening?

The Council of the City of Salford intends to make in no less than 7 days under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984: SALFORD CITY COUNCIL (A580 EAST LANCASHIRE ROAD BUS LANES) TEMPORARY ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025.
The Order will introduce bus lane closures on A580 East Lancashire Road, Swinton:
o 05/01/2026 - 18/01/2026 - 24 hour westbound lane closure.
o 19/01/2026 - 01/03/2026 - off peak westbound lane closure.
o 02/03/2026 - 16/03/2026 - off peak eastbound lane closure.
The Order is necessary as part of Cadent Gas' gas mains replacement scheme. The order is due to come into operation on the 5th January 2026 and will last for a period of 18 months or until the works are completed if earlier. The works are expected to be completed by 16th March 2026.
