What is happening?

WEST NORTHAMPTONSHIRE COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14

(PUBLIC BRIDLWAYS EY22 – LONG BUCKBY & FL7 – WHILTON)

(TEMPORARY CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that West Northamptonshire Council have made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit pedestrians, equestrians and cyclists from proceeding along those lengths of Public Bridleways EY22 in Long Buckby and FL7 in Whilton as specified below. Private access to land or premises adjacent to the said lengths of bridleways are unaffected.

RIGHT OF WAY TO WHICH RESTRICTION APPLIES: The full length of bridleways EY22 and FL7 are to be closed. Bridleway EY22 commences off Station Road, Long Buckby at Point A on the map at National Grid Reference (‘NGR’) SP6193 6567. The route then proceeds generally east of south for 321 metres to point B at NGR SP 6202 6536 at the boundary of  the sewage works. The route then turns and proceeds south-west for 440 metres to the boundary of the motorway at point C at NGR SP6166 6513. The route then turns and travels south-east, running parallel to the motorway and into the parish of Whilton as bridleway FL7 for a total of  765 metres. The route terminates at point D at NGR SP 6200 6445 at the junction with Norton Road, Whilton.

The route to be closed is shown on the map by a solid black line between points A - B - C - D.

REASONS FOR RESTRICTION: The restriction is required in the interest of health and safety due to surface damage to the bridleways.

PERIOD OF CLOSURE: The Order will come into effect on 12th November 2025 and will continue in force for a period of six months. An application may be made for the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport for this Order to be extended if this proves necessary. However, the restriction specified will have effect only at such times and to such extent as is indicated by the display of notices.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: There are no suitable alternative routes.
