Wiltshire, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:

A) Foundry Road, Malmesbury, from its junction with Burnham Road for its entire length to enable Wales & West Utilities to carry out service pipe replacement works and other associated works. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 01 December 2025 and the closure will be required until 12 December 2025. B) C226 (Part), Seend; from its junction with Park Lane to its property known as The Brewery Inn.

C) UC 936001 (Part), Seend; from its junction with C226 to its junction with Perrys Lane to enable Openreach to carry out safe access to underground structures for cabling and associated works. Alternative route via C226 (unaffected length) – A361 – C20 and vice versa. These Orders will come into operation on 02 December 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 3 days. D) B4003, Avebury, from its junction with A4361 to its junction with A4 to enable Openreach to carry out cabling works, blockage clearance and other associated works. Alternative route via A4 – A4361 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 01 December 2025 and the closure will be required until 05 December 2025. E) UC 107201 (Part), Winterbourne Monkton; from its junction with A4361 for a distance of approximately 520m in a southerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out works to lay ducting, install fibre boxes and other associated works. Alternative route via UC 107201 (unaffected length) – A4361 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 03 December 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 until 16 December 2025. F) C120 (Part), Clyffe Pypard; from its junction with C15 to its junction with Butpton Hill to enable Openreach to carry out works to lay ducting and associated works. Alternative route via C120 (unaffected length) – C121 – C415 – C15 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 05 December 2025, and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 until 08 December 2025. G) C70 (Part), Cricklade and Purton; from its junction with B4553 to its junction with Newths Lane to enable Thames Water to carry out supply connection works and other associated works. Alternative route via Newths Lane – B4553 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 01 December 2025, and the closure will be required for 3 days. Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:

H) C394 (Part), Calne; from its roundabout junction with A3102 to its junction with Weston Close to enable Dave Lucey Ltd to carry out S278 as part of the new Lidl development there is a requirement to form a new access off the adjacent roundabout and improvements to Oxford Road. Alternative route via C394 (unaffected length) – Stanier Road – A3102 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 10 November 2025, and the closure will be required until 30 January 2026. I) Heath Lane (Part), Devizes; from its junction with Downs Lane for a distance of approximately 167m in a southeasterly direction to enable Openreach to replace a pole. Alternative route via Heath Lane (unaffected length) – White Farm Lane – C198 – Woodcock Road and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 10 November 2025, and the closure will be required for 1 day. For further information please contact Openreach on 08000858194.

J) Presthute Lane (Part), Marlborough; from its junction with A4 for a distance of approximately 56m in a westerly direction to enable Wales & West Utilities to carry out a disconnection of gas service. Alternative route via Presthute Lane (unaffected length) – Bridge Street – Bath Road and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 10 November 2025, and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 20:00 for 1 day. K) C85 (Part), Crudwell; from its junction with the access to Highlands Farm Bungalow for a distance of approximately 40m in a northerly direction to enable Wales & West Utilities to carry out a repair – major works and other associated works. Alternative route via C85 (unaffected length) – C83 – C76 – A429 – C85 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 10 November 2025, and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 16:30 for 3 days. For further information please contact Wiltshire Council on 0300 456 0105. Orders A to K) will have a maximum duration of 18 months. The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that Wiltshire Council has made an Order to close temporarily to all users:

A) Bridleway 33 (Part), Langley Burrell Without; from its junction with Footpath 11, Langley Burrell Without to its junction with Bridleway 22, Sutton Benger.

B) Bridleway 22 (Part), Sutton Benger; from its junction with Bridleway 33, Langley Burrell Without for a distance of approximately 170m in a north-westerly direction to enable Bridleway to close due to an unsafe bridge. The closure is necessary to ensure public safety and will remain in place until the bridge can be fully replaced and the bridleway reinstated for safe use. Alternative route via Footpath 11, Langley Burrell Without – Footpath 20, Sutton Benger – Bridleway 22 Sutton Benger (unaffected length) and vice versa. The closure and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. This Order, which follows an emergency notice, will come into operation on 11 November 2025, and the closure will be required until 10 May 2026. Access will be maintained where possible during the works. The Order will have a maximum duration of 6 months. ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

1. THE COUNTY OF WILTSHIRE (VARIOUS ROADS, SHALBOURNE) (30MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2025

2. THE COUNTY OF WILTSHIRE (C74 SHALBOURNE ROAD, SHALBOURNE AND TIDCOMBE AND FOSBURY) (40MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2025

Notice is hereby given that on 29 October 2025 Wiltshire Council made the above mentioned Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which is as follows:

Order 1 – To introduce a 30mph speed limit on the following length of road:

C74 Shalbourne Road, Oxenwood (including spur road to C196) – from a point 5 metres east of the northern boundary of property No. 31 Oxenwood to a point 10 metres north west of the northern boundary to the property known as Chapel Cottage, Oxenwood.

C196 Oxenwood (including spur road to C74) – from the northern boundary of the property known as Old Vicarage Hall to a point 76 metres south west of its junction with the C74;

Beacon’s Farm Road (Oxenwood Track) – from its junction with the C196 for the complete length of adopted highway;

Sway Down Lane – from its junction with the C74 to the eastern boundary of property No. 24 Sway Down Cottage, Sway Down Lane.

Order 2 – To introduce a 40mph speed limit on:

C74 Shalbourne Road – from a point 28 metres southeast of the farm gate to the property known as Fosbury House, Oxenwood to a point 5 metres south east of the northern boundary of property No. 31 Oxenwood.

A copy of the Orders and map may be inspected at the offices of Wiltshire Council, County Hall, Trowbridge, during normal office hours. Any person aggrieved by the Orders and desiring to question the validity of the Orders or any provision contained in the Orders on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant Act or that any requirement of the Act or any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Orders may, within six weeks of the date on which the Orders were made, make application for the purpose to the High Court. The Orders will come into operation on 10 November 2025.
