B5289 Rannerdale, Buttermere, Temporary Road Closure due to Pole Maintenance Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (B5289, RANNERDALE, BUTTERMERE)
(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable pole maintenance works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of the B5289, Rannerdale, Buttermere, from a point approx. 40m north of the access to Rannerdale Farm extending in an overall northerly direction for approx. 340m.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and a suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of B5289, B5292 Whinlatter Pass, A66 Keswick and A5271.

The Order will come into operation on 24 November 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 2 days, between 0930 and 1530 hours, each day and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
