What is happening?

Abingdon: Twelve Acre Drive – Proposed Toucan Crossing & Bus Stop Clearways

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Oxfordshire County Council under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 & the Highways Act 1980 (section 90) proposes to construct the following features on Twelve Acre Drive, in Abingdon – which are being put forward as a result of the planning permissions granted for the new residential housing development to the north:

  1. New Toucan Crossing (a signal-controlled crossing for use by both pedestrians and pedal cyclists) – to be located approx. 60 metres* east* of the eastern junction of Russell Avenue (across the new development);

  2. New Bus Stop Clearways (with associated ‘No Stopping except local buses’ restrictions) – also to be introduced as follows:

    • North side – for a distance of 42 metres eastwards, starting approx. 90 metres east of the eastern junction of Russell Avenue (access to the new development).

    • South side – for a distance of 19 metres westwards, starting approx. 45 metres west of the western junction of Russell Avenue (access to the new development).

    • All distances are approximate, taken from the centre of the feature to the centre of the carriageway at the stated junction.

      Objections to the proposals and other representations specifying the grounds on which they are made may be sent in writing to the address below by the end of the objection period which runs until 5th December 2025. The County Council will consider objections and representations received in response to this Notice. They may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.       Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 – Section 14(1) Notice of Temporary Traffic Order Uffington, High Street Prohibition of Through Traffic

      Date of Order: 03/11/2025

      Coming into force: 10/11/2025

      This Order is being introduced because of excavation for fibre cabling works which are anticipated to take 18 days to complete.

      The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the High Street. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

      The alternative route for traffic is via: Broad Street and Woolstone Road.

      This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16634/JP)

      Notice of Temporary Traffic Order - Berrick Salome Parish, Multiple unnamed roads Prohibition of Through Traffic

      Date of order: 3rd November 2025

      Coming into force: 10th November 2025

      This Order is being introduced because of CCTV cleaning, manhole lining and sealing works which are anticipated to take 1 month to complete.

      The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding in various unnamed Roads at OX10 6JB (through Roke and Rokemarsh). Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

      Traffic will be diverted via local signage.

      This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16478/MR)

      Notice of Temporary Traffic Order Shirburn and Pyrton, Christmas Common Road Prohibition of Through Traffic

      Date of Order: 3/11/2025

      Coming into force: 14/11/2025

      This Order is being introduced because of water mains replacement works which are anticipated to take 11 weeks on weekdays to complete.

      The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in part of Christmas Common Road (from the junction with Hill Road to Hill Rd past Portabello Farm. The road will be open weekends. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

      The alternative route for traffic affected by the closure is via: Hill Road, Shirburn Rd, Watlington Rd, A40 Ashton Hill, and Christmas Common.

      This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16877/JP)

      Notice of Temporary Traffic Order Milton Heights, Trenchard Avenue One Way Traffic

      Date of Order: 10th November 2025

      Coming into force: 17th November 2025

      This Order is being introduced to allow construction works around Trenchard Avenue as part of the A4130 Steventon Lights project, with associated drainage, kerbing and resurfacing works which are anticipated to be completed 30th January 2026.

      A One-Way traffic system will be temporarily introduced in Trenchard Avenue allowing traffic to only emerge onto the A4130 and not turn into Trenchard Avenue. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

      Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works.

      The alternative route for traffic is via: the A4130 and Abingdon Road to Milton Hill. Note: this restriction will be removed for the Christmas period, between 19th December and 5th January.

      This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16850/AC)

      Notice of Temporary Traffic Order Goring Heath, Collins End & Bunces Lane Prohibition of Through Traffic

      Date of Order: 3rd November 2025

      Coming into force: 7th November 2025

      This Order is being introduced because of excavations for fibre cabling work is anticipated to take 21 days to complete.

      The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding in Collins End & Bunces Lane. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

      The traffic diversions will be signed locally.

      This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16456/MR)
