Suffolk - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Works
What is happening?
SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14
TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C414 STUTTON LANE, TATTINGSTONE
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the C414 Stutton Lane, Tattingstone from 130 metres east of Orchard Cottage for 40 metres eastbound to facilitate a new water connection. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be the A137, the B1080, Bentley Lane, Stutton Lane and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 05/11/2025 - 07/11/2025 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U4005 HIGH STREET, IPSWICH
Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the U4005 High Street, Ipswich from Ipswich Museum to 30 metres southbound to facilitate a new water connection.
Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be Crown Street, Fonnereau Road and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 14/11/2025 - 16/11/2025 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C568 THE COMMON AND YAXLEY ROAD, MELLIS
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the following roads:
• C568 The Common, Mellis from the level crossing for 20 metres north westbound
• C568 Yaxley Road, Mellis from the level crossing for 20 metres south eastbound.
This is to facilitate a Network Rail inspection. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be the A143, the A140 and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 11pm on 05/11/2025 to 5am on 06/11/2025 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U8106 WARE ROAD, RINGSHAW
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the U8106 Ware Road, Ringshall from the junction with Hitcham Road for 100 metres north eastbound to facilitate water meter maintenance. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be Hitcham Road, Bird Street, Wattisham Road, Battisford Road, Laurels Road, Bildeston Road, Wattisham Road, Ware Road and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate on 05/11/2025 from 8am - 6pm but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C450 IPSWICH ROAD, OFFTON AND WILLSHAM
Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the following roads:
• C450 Ipswich Road, Offton from the junction with Elmsett Road to Ipswich Road, Willsham
• C450 Ipswich Road, Willsham from Ipswich Road, Offton to Bildeston Road.
This is to facilitate fibre ducting works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be Main Road, Nettlestead, Main Road, Somersham, Somersham Road, Little Blakenham, Heather Bottle Hill, Somersham Road, Bramford, the B1113, Grinstead Hill, the B1078, Willsham Road, Main Road, Willsham, Willsham Hall Road, Ipswich Road and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 14/11/2025 - 16/11/2025 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF THE U8000 RUSHBROOKE LANE, BURY ST EDMUNDS
Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the U8000 Rushbrooke Lane, Bury St Edmunds to facilitate carriageway patching. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be North Hill, Rushbrooke, the A134, Rougham Hill, Cavalier Way, Bury St Edmunds and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 14/11/2025 - 18/11/2025 from 9am - 3pm. If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U5009 SIR ALF RAMSEY WAY AND U5021 CONSTANTINE ROAD, IPSWICH
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the U5009 Sir Alf Ramsey Way, Ipswich from Portmans Walk to Alderman Road and the U5021 Constantine Road, Ipswich from Sir Alf Ramsey Way to Russell Road to facilitate alteration of parking bay lining and signage. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion routes will be:
• for U5009 Sir Alf Ramsey Way: Sir Alf Ramsey Way, the A137, the B1075, the A1022, the A1071, Portman Road and vice versa
• for U5021 Constantine Road: Russell Road, the B1075, the A1022, the A1071, Portman Road, Sir Alf Ramsey Way and no vice versa
It is intended that the closure will operate from 05/11/2025 - 09/11/2025 from 6pm - 5am but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C640 CHURCH ROAD AND
THE C643 BARDWELL ROAD, BARNINGHAM
Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the following roads in the following phases:
1. the C640 Church Road, Barningham from Royal George Public House for 100 metres northbound
2. the C643 Bardwell Road, Barningham from Ciaus Cottage for 100 metres north eastbound.
This is to facilitate telecommunications pole testing. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion routes will be:
1. Coney Weston Road, Thetford Road, Rushford Road, the A1066, the B1111, Church Road and vice versa
2. Bardwell Road, the A1088, the A143, the B1111 and vice versa.
It is intended that the closures will operate from:
1. 14/11/2025 from 9.30am – 12 midday
2. 14/11/2025 from 12 midday to 2.30pm.
If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF VARIOUS ROADS, COWLINGE
Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the following roads in the following phases:
1. the U7115 Trotting Horse Lane, Cowlinge
2. the U7115 Lambfair Green, Cowlinge from the junction with Queen Street for 100 metres south westbound
3. the U7118 Elms Road, Cowlinge from the junction with Mill Lane to the junction with Pound Green
4. the U7114 Bradley Road, Cowlinge from the junction with Newmarket Road for 120 metres westbound
5. the U7116 Mill Lane, Cowlinge.
This is to facilitate the installation of a fibre network. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion routes will be:
1. Mill Lane, Elms Road, Hall Road and vice versa
2. Erratts Hill, Pound Green, Elms Road, Mill Lane, Lambfair Green and vice versa
3. Pound Green, Lambfair Green, Mill Lane and vice versa
4. Queen Street, Lambfair Green, Trotting Horse Lane, Hall Road, Bradley Road and vice versa
5. Lambfair Green, Erratts Hill, Pound Green, Elms Road and vice versa.
It is intended that the closures will operate from:
1. 14/11/25 to 19/11/25
2. 20/11/25 to 25/11/25
3. 26/11/25 to 01/12/25
4. 02/12/25 to 5/12/25
5. 06/12/25 to 9/12/25.
If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL
(PARISH OF GRUNDISBURGH) (BRIDLEWAY 7)
(TEMPORARY CLOSURE) ORDER 2025
This order, which came into effect on 15/05/2025 closing Bridleway 7, Grundisburgh, at the bridge, has been extended in force by the Minister until 15/05/2026 or until the completion of the works, whichever is the earlier.
Without extension, the order would have been in effect until 15/11/2025.
The closure remains required for safety reasons due to a severely damaged bridge.
The diversion route will be along the adjacent ford.
