What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (C2051 AND U2061 WIGGONBY TO LOW WHINNOW)
(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:
C2051, Wiggonby, from its junction with the U2016, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 740m; and
U2061, Low Whinnow, from its junction with the A596, extending in an overall northerly direction for approx. 2.2km.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and a suitable alternative route for vehicles will be available via the and A596, U2060 Knowxwood, U2059, U2056 Thornby and unrestricted section of the C2051.

The Order will come into operation on 17 November 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months.
However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for approx. 5 weeks and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
