What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

TEMPORARY CLOSING OF BRIDLEWAY IPPOLLITTS 16

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit pedestrians, horseriders, and cyclists from using that length of Bridleway Ippollitts 16, heading south from Stevenage Road, Little Wymondley to Stevenage Road St Ippolyts, for an approximate distance of 1100m.

Alternative Route: no suitable alternative on ProW network

The purpose of the Order is to enable utilities work to take place.

The section of Bridleway Ippollitts 16 will be closed on or after 17 November 2026 for up to 1 week, when signs are in place.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

TEMPORARY CLOSING OF BYWAY OPEN TO ALL TRAFFIC HITCHIN 007

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit pedestrians, horseriders, cyclists and vehicles from using that length of Byway Open to All Traffic Hitchin 007, heading south towards Grays Lane, for an approximate distance of 30m.

Alternative Route: via Hitchin 7, Grays Lane, Upper Tilehouse Street, Payne’s Park, Bedford Road, Old Park Road and West Hill

The purpose of the Order is to enable utilities works to take place.

The section of Byway Open to All Traffic Hitchin 007 will be closed on or after 18 November 2025 for up to 1 day, when signs are in place.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF DUKES LANE, HITCHIN) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Dukes Lane, Hitchin from a point in line with the eastern boundary of No.5 Dukes Lane south westwards for a distance of approximately 30m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Dukes Lane, Ickleford Road, A505 Bunyan Road, Bunyan Road and Dukes Lane.

The Order is needed because gas works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 15 November 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF NEW INN ROAD, HINXWORTH) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of New Inn Road, Hinxworth from its junction with A1 (London Road) north eastwards for a distance of approximately 68m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via A1 (unnamed road), Edworth Road, Edworth (unnamed road), High Street and New Inn Road or via New Inn Road, High Street, Edworth (unnamed road) and A1 (London Road/unnamed road).

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 17 November 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF LILLEY BOTTOM ROAD, WHITWELL) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Lilley Bottom Road, Whitwell, from its junction with B651 from Horn Hill south eastwards for a distance of approximately 85m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Lilley Bottom Road, Church Road, Parsonage Lane, Back Lane, Church Lane, School Lane, Hitchwood Lane, B651 (Whitwell Road/ Hitchin Road/High Street) and Lilley Bottom Road.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 20 November 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF FALCON CLOSE, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Falcon Close, Stevenage from a point 50m south east of its junction with Mallard Road south eastwards for its entire length (“the Road”).

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being undertaken. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 18 November 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT MEASURES ON VARIOUS ROADS IN STEVENAGE DURING THE ‘STEVENAGE FIREWORKS DISPLAY’) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect on the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”) will be:–

1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from making a right turn manoeuvre from the westbound carriageway of Six Hills Way into the access road leading to the ‘Sailing Centre’, Stevenage, whilst signs are in place.

An alternative route will be via Six Hills Way, the Monkswood Way roundabout and Six Hills Way.

2. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from making a right turn manoeuvre from Valley Way into Six Hills Way, Stevenage, whilst signs are in place.

An alternative route will be via Six Hills Way, the Monkswood Way roundabout and Six Hills Way.

3. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from making a right turn manoeuvre from the eastbound carriageway of Six Hills Way into the southern field of ‘Fairland Lakes’, Stevenage, whilst signs are in place.

An alternative route will be via Six Hills Way, the Shephall Way roundabout and Six Hills Way.

The Order is needed to ensure public safety and prevent accidents for the duration of the ‘Stevenage Fireworks Display’.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 5 November 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN MILDMAY ROAD, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all traffic from using that length of Mildmay Road, Stevenage from its junction with A1155 Verity Way north eastwards to its junction with Ascot Crescent, a distance of approximately 501m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via A1155 Verity Way, Martins Way and Ascot Crescent.

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 3 November 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF NORTON BURY LANE, LETCHWORTH GARDEN CITY) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Norton Bury Lane, Letchworth Garden City from a point 180m north east of its junction with Letchworth Garden City Public Footpath No.030 south westwards for a distance of approximately 160m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Norton Bury Lane, Norton Road, A507 (unnamed road/earl Road/North Road/North Road), Norton Mill Lane and Norton Bury Lane.

The Order is needed because tree maintenance works are proposed to be executed near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 4 November 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN ARCH ROAD, GREAT WYMONDLEY) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Arch Road, Great Wymondley from its junction with the Stevenage Road roundabout north eastwards to its junction with Hitchin Road, a distance of approximately 1293m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Stevenage Road, B197 (Graveley Road/High Street) and Graveley Lane.

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 3 November 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN B656 LONDON ROAD, HITCHIN/ST IPPOLYTTS) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of B656 London Road, Hitchin/St Ippolytts from a point in line with the northern boundary of No.33 London Road south eastwards to its junction with Millfield Lane, a distance of approximately 283m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via B656 London Road, A602 (Stevenage Road/ Wymondley Road/Hitchin Road), A1072 Gunnells Wood Road, A1070 Six Hills Way, B197 (London Road/Stevenage Road/Mardley Hill/Great North Road) and B656 (Church Street/Link Road/Codicote Road/High Street/Hitchin Road/London Road) or via B656 London Road, B656 (Stevenage Road/Wymondley Road), the A1(M) and B656 (Church Street/Link Road/Codicote Road/High Street/Hitchin Road/ London Road).

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 3 November 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

THE HERTFORDSHIRE (WILLOW LANE AND PARK WAY, HITCHIN)

(40 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (1984 Act) to introduce a 40-mph speed limit restriction in parts of Willow Lane and Park Way, Hitchin as specified in the Schedule to this Notice. The Order will come into effect on Sunday 16 November 2025.

Documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order may be viewed from 30 October 2025 to 11 December 2025 during office hours at Main Reception, County Hall, Hertford or online at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/trafficorders by selecting North Herts and looking at Ref: NH00525.
