What is happening?
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC
REGULATION ORDER 2025
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne intend, not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit all traffic to proceed on the following roads: i. Northumberland Road, between College Street and Radnor Street. ii. Back Ellison Place North, for its entire length.
2. Appropriate traffic management will be in place during the closures.
3. The Order is required in connection with Enchanted City ("the Event") and to reduce the disruption to traffic likely to be caused by the Event. The Order is required to allow the Event to be carried out safely on or near the highway and to ensure the health and safety of the public.
4. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles and personnel engaged in the works and police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles and personnel on emergency call.
5. The Order will come into operation on 8 December 2025 and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, up to 15 December 2025.
