Uttlesford, Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Maintenance & Resurfacing Works
What is happening?
ESSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
(Bury Lane & Heydon Lane, Elmdon) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
- To temporarily close that length of Bury Lane, Elmdon in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Heydon Lane for a distance of approximately 20m in a north easterly then north westerly direction.
- To temporarily close that length of Heydon Lane, Elmdon in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with High Street for a distance of approximately 45m in a south easterly direction.
The closures are scheduled to commence on 26th November 2025 for 3 days or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WGOVBV9ZETHSB & BC008WGOV8V9ZETH01SB – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while blockage clearance works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via: High Street, Heydon Lane and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 6th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Bartlow Road, Hadstock) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Bartlow Road, Hadstock in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 285m south east then north east of its junction with Moules Lane for a distance of approximately 110m in a north easterly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th November 2025 for 2 days or where stated on a valid permit (BC411NL001WG2NNP2R – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via: Bartlow Road, B1052, A1307, Bartlow Road, Dean Road, Hadstock Road, Bartlow Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 23rd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
Hempstead Road, Radwinter) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Hempstead Road, Radwinter in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 340m north east then south east of its junction with Ashdon Road, for a distance of approximately 60m in a south easterly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th November 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WG9P253SLCSB – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via: B1054, B1053, B1057, B1055 and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 23rd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
Main Street, Clatterbury Lane & Wicken Road, Arkesden) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
- To temporarily close that length of Main Street, Arkesden in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Wicken Road for a distance of approximately 45m in a north westerly direction.
- To temporarily close that length of Clatterbury Lane, Arkesden in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction.
To temporarily close that length of Wicken Road, Arkesden in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Main Street for a distance of approximately 65m in a south easterly direction.
The closures are scheduled to commence on 10th November 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WG6CK49ZSB, BC000WG6CK49Z01SB & BC008WG6CK49Z02SB – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via: Main Street, Clatterbury Lane, Arkesden Road, B1028, B1383, Debden Road, Newport Road, Water Lane, Walden Road, Purton End, Debden Road, Landscape View, Pleasant Valley, Debden Road, B1052, B1383, B1039, Arkesden Road, Wendens Road, Quicksie Hill, Church Hill, Main Street and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 23rd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
Strethall Road, Littlebury) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given
that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Strethall Road, Littlebury in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 650m south west of its junction with London Road for a distance of approximately 250m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 18th November 2025 for 2 days or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WGGF545V – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via: Strethall Road, Littlebury Green Road, Chestnut Avenue, B1383, Littlebury Green Road, Strethall Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 23rd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Wendon Road, Saffron Walden) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
- To temporarily close that length of Wendon Road, Saffron Walden in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Audley End Road for a distance of approximately 480m in a south westerly direction.
- To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ at any time along that road for the duration of the closure only.
The Essex County Council (Uttlesford District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019
will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.The closure/clearway is scheduled to commence on 11th November 2025 for 12 days or where stated on a valid permit (EP20153087039 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/clearway is required for the safety of the public and workforce while resurfacing of that road (Clearway) works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via: Wendon Road, Wendens Road, Littlebury Road, M11, Cambridge Road, Newport Hill, Newport Road, Audley End Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 23rd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
