Essex, Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Various Events & Works
What is happening?
ESSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
(Radford Way, Billericay) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic)
(Special Event, Billericay Fireworks) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close Radford Way, Billericay in the Borough of Basildon for its entire length from the roundabout with Mountnessing Road to the B1007 Stock Road. To facilitate the Billericay Community Firework Display.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 8th November 2025 between the hours of 19:30 to 21:00 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public and assisting spectators of the Fireworks display to exit the main gate. There will be marshals to allow access to the station for buses. Access for residents will be allowed.
The alternative route is via: B1007, Western Road, A129 London Road, Mountnessing Road and vice versa.
Access for emergency service vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closure.
The Order will come into operation on 8th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the event has been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Church Road, Hockley) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Church Road, Hockley in the District of Rochford, from a point approximately 320m south west then south of its junction with Merton Road for a distance of approximately 65m in a southerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 24th November 2025 for 5 days or where stated on a valid permit (EN013334791 – Essex and Suffolk Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Essex and Suffolk Water.
An alternative route is available via: Church Road, Folly Lane, B1013, A127, A1159, Rochford Road, Southend Road, Bradley Way, West Street, Ashingdon Road, Lower Road, Church Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 18th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Gifford Road, South Benfleet) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Gifford Road, South Benfleet in the Borough of Castle Point, from its junction with Bowers Road for a distance of approximately 220m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 24th November 2025 for 25 days or where stated on a valid permit (EC30026134609 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while overhead line works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.
An alternative route is available via: London Road, Kents Hill Road, Bowers Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 6th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Rectory Road/Delhi Road, Pitsea) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
- To temporarily close that length of Rectory Road, Pitsea in the Borough of Basildon, from a point approximately 45m north of its junction with Rectory Gardens for a distance of approximately 45m in a northerly direction.
- To temporarily close that length of Delhi Road, Pitsea in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Rectory Road for a distance of approximately 40m in an easterly direction.
The closures are scheduled to commence on 27th November 2025 for 1 night (19:00–23:00), or where stated on a valid permit (AD03765404902/AD03765404902/1 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.
An alternative route is available via: Crest Avenue, Halstow Way and vice versa (with access only into Rectory Road, Delhi Road).
The Order will come into effect on 6th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Chapel Street, Billericay) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Chapel Street, Billericay in the Borough of Basildon, from a point approximately 20m south east of its junction with Chapel Mews for a distance of approximately 30m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th November 2025 for 5 days or where stated on a valid permit (EN013318748 – Essex and Suffolk Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Essex and Suffolk Water.
An alternative route is available via: A129, Outwood Common Road, Greens Farm Lane, Meadow Rise, Valley Road, Hillside Road, Chapel Street and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 23rd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Laindon Link, Laindon (west bound only) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Laindon Link, Laindon in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Roundacre New Roundabout for a distance of approximately 125m in a north westerly then south westerly direction (west bound only). The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th November 2025 for 4 nights (21:00–05:00) or where stated on a valid permit (EP40070339153 – Hill Partnerships and Sempra). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while resurfacing works are undertaken by Hill Partnerships and Sempra.
An alternative route is available via: A176, B148, B1036, B1007.
The Order came into effect on 23rd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(London Road, Rayleigh) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of London Road, Rayleigh in the District of Rochford, from its junction with The Approach to its junction with London Hill a distance of approximately 40m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th November 2025 for 1 night (21:00–06:00) or where stated on a valid permit (KL701SSV-33-21-121125 – Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while bridge inspection works are undertaken by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd.
An alternative route is available via: A129, A127, A1245, A129 and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 23rd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
