Essex, Multiple Temporary Road Closures & 20mph Speed Zone Implementation

What is happening?

ESSEX COUNTY COUNCIL

(Footpath 118, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 118, Colchester, in the City of Colchester, from the kissing gate on St Andrews Avenue, Colchester to its junction with Whitehorn Close approximately 180 metres.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th November 2025 to 5th December 2025 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while footpath upgrade works are undertaken.

Alternative route: Whitethorne Close, Forest Road, Clarke Walk, Alyssum Walk, St Andrews Avenue, Footpath 118 and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 10th November 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Various Roads (East of Tye Road) Elmstead) (20mph Zone) Order 202*

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council proposes to make the above Order under sections 84(1)(a) and (2), and Part III of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended)

Effect of the order: To implement a ‘20mph Zone’

Road

Description

Barley Lane

From its junction with Tye Green, south for its entire length, including any turning heads, approximately 162 metres.

Lancaster Way

From its junction with Tye Green, north for its entire length, including two upward spurs, approximately 160 metres.

Peter Potter Way

From its junction with Tye Green, south for its entire length, approximately 39 metres.

Tye Green

From a point approximately 13 metres east of its junction with Tye Road, for its entire length, including any turning heads, approximately 170 metres.

Objections: Anyone who wishes to make an objection to the proposed scheme should send the grounds for their objection in writing to the address or via e-mail to: TrafficRegulation.Order@essexhighways.org, quoting reference: TRAF/8667 by 21st November 2025.

(Albion Grove, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Albion Grove, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Canterbury Road to its junction with Winchester Road a distance of approximately 110m.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 27th November 2025 for 5 days or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2393508 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway repair works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via: Canterbury Road, Bourne Road, Winchester Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 6th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Jubilee Lane, Ardleigh) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Jubilee Lane, Ardleigh in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Bromley Road for a distance of approximately 85m in a north westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 24th November 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MT020SD0064651 – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

An alternative route is available via Spring Valley Lane, Bromley Road and vice versa (with access only Jubilee Lane).

The Order will come into effect on 6th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Knights Field, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Knights Field, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Cavalier Grove for a distance of approximately 25m in a westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 25th November 2025 for 8 days or where stated on a valid permit (EC30085201169 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for those works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while multi-way link box repair works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

No diversion route is available.

The Order will come into effect on 6th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Rambler Close, Stanway) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Rambler Close, Stanway in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 10m north west of its junction with Peace Road for a distance of approximately 80m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th November 2025 for 12 days or where stated on a valid permit (BC411002W6G694T – Openreach).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while Duct laying works are undertaken by Openreach.

No diversion route is available.

The Order came into effect on 23rd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(The Folley, Layer-de-la-Haye) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of The Folley, Layer-de-la-Haye in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Malting Green Road to its junction with High Road a distance of approximately 800m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th November 2025 for 9 days or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2388907 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway repair works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via: Malting Green Road, High Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 23rd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
