Dorset - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Infrastructure and Safety Works

What is happening?

Temporary Closure of Various Roads, Bradford Peverell

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 3 November 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 28 November 2025. Works will be carried out between 0900 and 1500.

This Order will enable Wessex Internet, safe access to install fibre cable.

The effect of this Order will be:

[1] To impose temporary road closure on Tilly Whim Lane from its junction with Dorchester Road for a distance of approximately 1010 metres. 24 - 28 November 2025

[2] To impose temporary road closure on Dorchester Road from its junction with Tilly Whim Lane to its junction with School Lane. 10 - 21 November 2025

[3] To impose temporary road closure on Muckleford Lane for its entirety. 10 - 21 November 2025

[4] To impose temporary road closure on School Lane for its entirety. 3 - 7 November 2025

Temporary Closure of Maiden Street, Weymouth

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended.

All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along MAIDEN STREET, WEYMOUTH between its junctions with St Alban Street and Bond Street, a distance of approximately 100 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 3 November 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 14 November 2025.

This Order will enable Wessex Water, safe access to excavate carriageway to replace 3 metre length of 100mm clay pipe.

An alternative route will be signed using: Mitchell Street - East Street - The Esplanade

Temporary Closure of Public Bridleways 9, Winfrith Newburgh and 5, Coombe Keynes

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along Bridleway 9, Winfrith Newburgh and Bridleway 5, Coombe Keynes between grid reference SY 817 848 and grid reference SY 832 848, a distance of approximately 1,515 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 24th November 2025 for a period of 26 weeks, but it may be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.

The Order is required due to the extreme Health and Safety Risk caused by the continued expansion at Newburgh Dairy and adjacent Slurry Lagoon.

Temporary Traffic Management Order, B3157, Portesham

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended.

The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 03 November 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 14 November 2025.

This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway surfacing works.

The effect of the Order is as follows:

[1] To impose a temporary road closure on B3157, PORTESHAM between its junction with Glebe Close and number 4, Goose Hill, a distance of approximately 2220 metres.

[2] To impose a temporary parking suspension, as indicated by signs on site, to prevent parking on the highway along B3157, PORTESHAM between its junction with Glebe Close and number 4, Goose Hill, a distance of approximately 2220 metres.

[3] To impose a temporary clearway, as indicated by signs on site, to prevent waiting on the highway along B3157, PORTESHAM between its junction with Glebe Close and number 4, Goose Hill, a distance of approximately 2220 metres.

Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986. A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

Temporary Closure of North Quay, Weymouth

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended.

The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 3 November 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 6 April 2026.

This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out footway improvement and pedestrian crossing works.

The effect of this Order will be:

[1] To impose temporary east bound closure on North Quay for its entirety as indicated by signs on site

[2] To impose temporary west bound closure on North Quay for its entirety as indicated by signs on site

[3] To impose left turn ban at all junctions on to North Quay as indicated by signs on site

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.
