What is happening?

THE LONDON BOROUGH OF REDBRIDGE

School Streets Scheme - The Redbridge (Prescribed Routes) (School Streets) (Experimental No.02) Order 2025 The Redbridge (Waiting, Loading, Stopping and Street Parking Places) (Experimental No. 01) Order 2025

(NOTE: This Notice is about the introduction of part-time pedestrian zones during term-time (school streets) in streets adjacent to the following schools, Kantor King Solomon High School, St.Bede's Catholic Primary School, and Wohl llford Jewish Primary School. Objections may be made - see paragraph 4).

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Redbridge made on 22nd October 2025 the above-mentioned Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

2. The general effect of the Orders which come into force on 3rd November 2025 is to: -

(1) prohibit all motor vehicles except permit holders in:

(a) Canon Avenue, and Somerville Road, between Second Avenue and Third Avenue, Monday to Friday between 7:45 – 9:15am and 2:30 – 4:45pm except (SS50) permit holders during term time.

(b) Starch House Lane, Monday to Friday between 7:45 – 9:00am and 3:00 – 4:00pm except (SS41) permit holders during term time.

Any vehicle that is in the affected road before the pedestrian and cycle zone commences will be permitted to leave.

(2) introduce double yellow line junction protection in Canon Avenue and Jarrow Road.

3. A copy of the Orders and other documents giving detailed particulars about it including map-based plans may be examined at: The Customer Centre, Lynton House, 255-259 High Road, Ilford, IG1 1NY between 10:00am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday.

4. The Council will consider in due course whether the provisions of the Order should be continued in force indefinitely by means of a permanent Order made under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. Any person may object to the making of the permanent Order within a period of 6 months beginning with the date on which the Experimental Order comes into force or, if the Order is varied by another Order or modified pursuant to section 10(2) of the 1984 Act, beginning with the date on which the variation or modification or the latest variation or modification comes into force.

5. The Council will consider in due course whether the provisions of the Orders should be continued in force indefinitely by means of permanent Orders made under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. Any person may object to the making of the permanent Orders within a period of six months beginning with the date on which the experimental Orders come into force or, if the Orders are varied by another Order or modified pursuant to section 10(2) of the 1984 Act, beginning with the date on which the variation or modification or the latest variation or modification comes into force.

Any objection must be made in writing and must state the grounds on which it is made and be sent to: highwaysg@redbridge.gov.uk, or by writing to: Highways Team, 2nd Floor (Front), Lynton House, 255-259 High Road, Ilford, IG1 1NY, (quoting reference: RED1065-13). Any objection may be communicated to, or be seen by, other persons who may have an interest in this matter.

6. If any person wishes to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under that Act has not been complied with, that person may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order is made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.
