What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(SOUTHFIELD LANE, SOUTHFIELD, COLNE, PENDLE BORUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of Southfield Lane, Southfield from its junction with Knotts Lane to its junction with Back Lane.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0830 hours until 1630 hours on Wednesday 12th November 2025 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Emergency services access will be maintained. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
i. From north of the closure
Knotts Lane – Bridge Street - Albert Road – Church Street – Market Street – Keighley Road – Carry Lane – Coal Pit Lane – Mire Ridge – Colne Road – Burnley Road -Shelfield Lane – Back Lane.
ii. From south of the closure
Back Lane – Shelfield Lane – Burnley Road – Colne Road – Mire Ridge – Coal Pit Lane – Carry Lane – Keighley Road – Newtown Street – Craddock Road – Walton Street – Church Street – Albert Road – Bridge Street – Knott Lane
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow the replacement of BT pole to be carried out.
