What is happening?
CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE (SOUTH STREET) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025 |bNOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN|b that on 23 October 2025 the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit any traffic to proceed on South Street, from its junction with John Street south-westwards for 67 metres. There is no alternative route for traffic. The order is required to allow works to be carried out on or near the highway. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles and personnel engaged in the works and police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles on emergency call. The Order will come into operation on |b1 November 2025|b and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, up to |b30th January 2026|b or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is the earlier.
