Notice of Confirmation of a Modification Order Section 53 of The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 Definitive Map and Statement for Chanctonbury (Chanctonbury No.1: Ashurst (Addition of a Bridleway)) Definitive Map Modification Order 2025
On 7 October 2025 WSCC confirmed the above-named Order unopposed and without modification under Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, and which takes effect on that date.
The effect of the order, confirmed as made, is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for Chanctonbury by the addition of a bridleway commencing at bridleway 2587 (grid reference 518055, 114933) and proceeding in a westerly direction for 24M to B2135 Horsham Road (grid reference 518031, 114926) and with a minimum width of 3M.
A copy of the Order and the Order Plan may be seen free of charge at Legal Services, WSCC, County Hall, Chichester, PO19 1RQ and at Horsham District Council during opening hours. A copy of the Order and Plan may be purchased for £5.00 from Legal Services, County Hall. If any person aggrieved
by the Order desires to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or that any of the requirements of Schedule 15 of the Act have not been complied with in relation to it, they may, under paragraph 12 (i) of Schedule 15 to the Act, within 42 days from
30 October 2025 make an application to the High Court.
