Central Bedfordshire Council (Prohibition of Motor Vehicles)
(The Green, Marston Moreteyne) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that Central Bedfordshire Council made the above named Order under Sections 1, 2, and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on 21 October 2025, which has the effect as follows;
To introduce a Prohibition of Motor Vehicles from Monday to Friday between 8:15 – 8:55am and 3:00-3:40pm during term time on the following length of road in Marston Moreteyne:
1. The Green, full length.
There will be exemptions for the following;
• A vehicle used by a resident of The Green or Church Walk
• A vehicle being used for Police, Ambulance, Fire Service or Special Forces purposes
• A pedal cycle which is not a motor vehicle
• A vehicle being used by a person with accessibility needs
• A vehicle being used by an employee of, or visitor to, St Mary’s Church
• Staff and Volunteers of Marston Moreteyne VC School
This Order makes permanent the restrictions previously implemented under the Central Bedfordshire Council (Prohibition of Motor Vehicles) (The Green, Marston Moreteyne) Experimental Order 2024, which is hereby revoked.
Date of Operation:- The Order will come into operation on 6 November 2025.
A copy of the Order and associated documents may be inspected during normal office hours at Central Bedfordshire Council, Priory House, Monks Walk, Chicksands, Shefford, SG17 5TQ. To prevent delays on arrival it is advisable to contact the team on the address shown below and make an appointment where possible.
High Court Challenge:- Any person who desires to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained therein on the ground that it is not within the powers of the relevant Section of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the ground that any requirement of that Section had not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks of 21 October 2025, make application for the purpose to the High Court.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL (AMPTHILL: PART OF FOOTPATH NO. 6) PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION ORDER 2025
On 24 October 2025 Central Bedfordshire Council confirmed the above Order made under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980.
The effect of the Order as confirmed is to divert part of Footpath No. 6, Ampthill.
The length of part of Footpath No. 6, Ampthill to be stopped up extends from its junction with with Footpath No. 24, Ampthill at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) TL 0522 3965 in a south-south-westerly direction for approximately 3 metres to a brick wall at OS GR TL 0522 3965 then continues in a south-south-westerly direction for approximately 15 metres to a hedge at OS GR TL 0521 3964 then continues in a south-south-westerly direction for approximately 155 metres to OS GR TL 0515 3950 then continues in a southerly direction for approximately 159 metres to terminate at an unaffected part of Footpath No. 6, Ampthill at OS GR TL 0513 3934.
The footpath is stopped up across its full width.
The length of part of Footpath No. 6, Ampthill to be created extends from its junction with with Footpath No. 24, Ampthill at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) TL 0517 3968 in a south-south-westerly direction for approximately 327 metres to OS GR TL 0509 3936 then continues in a south-easterly direction for approximately 42 metres to terminate at an unaffected part of Footpath No. 6, Ampthill at OS GR TL 0513 3934.
The new route of the footpath has a width of 2 metres.

The new route in the Order comes into force on 31 October 2025 and the existing route will be stopped up on the date on which Central Bedfordshire Council certify that the public footpath described in Article 2 of the Order has been set out to their satisfaction but if a person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 6 weeks from 30 October 2025 make an application to the High Court.
