Temporary Closure of Public Footpath N53/2, Sturminster Newton

What is happening?

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffi c Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along Footpath N53/2, Sturminster Newton, from grid reference ST7863314446 to grid reference
ST7895214499, a distance of approximately 330 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It came into operation on 27th October 2025
and will remain in force for 26 weeks and can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary. However it is anticipated that works will be completed by 5th December 2025.
This closure is required to allow Wessex Water construct a new water main along the line of the RoW.

Temporary Traffi c Management Order, Whitfi eld Farm Lane, Knighton
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffi c Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 03 November 2025 and will remain in force for
18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 06 November 2025.
This Order will enable Colas and Dorset Council to carry out essential highway maintenance works.
The effect of the Order is as follows:
[1] To impose a temporary road closure on WHITFIELD FARM LANE, KNIGHTON, between Higher Knighton Farm and Whitfi eld Farm, a distance of approximately 970 metres.
[2] To impose a temporary parking suspension, as indicated by signs on site, to prevent parking on the highway along WHITFIELD FARM LANE, KNIGHTON, between Higher Knighton Farm and Whitfield Farm, a distance of approximately 970 metres.
[3] To impose a temporary clearway, as indicated by signs on site, to prevent waiting on the highway along WHITFIELD FARM LANE, KNIGHTON, between Higher Knighton Farm and Whitfield Farm, a distance of approximately 970 metres.
Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986. A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffi c to travel around the closed sections.
