(ST HELENS WITHOUT PARISH)

(ABINGDON AIRFIELD BONFIRE AND FIREWORKS EVENT)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC, LOADING AND WAITING) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that on 10 November 2025 Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

This Order is to facilitate the holding of the Abingdon Bonfire and Fireworks event at Abingdon Airfield which is promoted by BUKO Traffic & Safety, 60-64 Oswald Road, Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, DN15 7PQ e: LWilkinson@buko.co.uk

The aim of the Order is to manage traffic attending the event between 2pm on Saturday 15 November and 1am on Sunday 16 November by closing the following roads with No Waiting/No Loading/No Unloading restrictions:

Faringdon Road (Gozzards Ford) between Sheepstead Road and the A415 Marcham Road;

Blackhorse Lane between Faringdon Road and Cothill Road;

Barrow Road between Faringdon Road (Gozzards Ford) and Faringdon Road (Shippon);

Faringdon Road (Shippon) from Barrow Road to Cholswell Road;

Faringdon Road (Shippon) east of Cholswell Road;

Cholswell Road between Faringdon Road and Long Tow;

Long Tow, between Cholswell Road and Wootton Road;

Honeybottom Lane between Whitecross and Church Lane;

Green Lane between Honeybottom Lane and Church Lane.

Alternative routes for traffic affected by the closure are:

Lashford Lane, Church Lane, Cothill Road, Sheepstead Road, North Street, A415 Marcham Road, Spring Road, Faringdon Road, B4017 Wootton Road, B4017 Whitecross, B4017 Lamborough Hill, Besselsleigh Road and vice versa.

Exemptions are included for emergency services and essential works to services (drainage, water, sewage, gas, electricity and telecommunications) in and adjoining the closed lengths of roads.
