Suffolk - Multiple Temporary Road Closures and Speed Restrictions due to Works
What is happening?
SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14
TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C630 INGHAM ROAD, WEST STOW
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the C630 Ingham Road, West Stow from Footpath 1 for 30 metres south westbound to facilitate the maintenance of a water meter. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be the B1106 and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate on 29/10/2025 from 8am - 6pm. If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C717 POWNEY STREET, MILDEN
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the C717 Powney Street, Milden from Old Well Cottage to no. 1 to facilitate a new water connection. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be Powney Street, the B1115, the A1141, Hadleigh Road, Priory Hill, Kersey Road, Road from 8321 to C720 Waldingfield Road, Milden Road, Boxford Road and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 29/10/2025 - 31/10/2025 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U5625 SHOP STREET, WORLINGWORTH
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the U5625 Shop Street, Worlingworth from approximately north of the junction with Pipers Meadow for 30 metres northbound to facilitate excavation of a water defect in the carriageway. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be Mill Road, Southolt Road, Swan Road and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 29/10/2025 - 31/10/2025 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C649 BRAND ROAD
AND BARTON ROAD, GREAT BARTON
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the following roads:
• C649 Brand Road, Great Barton from 25 metres south of the junction with Livermere Road to the junction with Brand Road
• C649 Barton Road, Great Barton from the junction with Brand Road to the junction with The Street.
This is to facilitate the installation of a fibre network. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be Brand Road, the A143 Bury Road, the A143, Ixworth the A1088, Thetford Road, Ixworth Road, Troston Road, Honington Road, The Street, Livermere Road, Ixworth Road, The Street and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 29/10/2025 - 12/12/2025 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U8520 HARDWICK LANE, BURY ST EDMUNDS
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the U8520 Hardwick Lane, Bury St Edmunds from the junction with Sharp Road for 30 metres westbound to facilitate a stop tap replacement. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be Vinery Road, the A143, Horringer Court Road and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 29/10/2025 - 30/10/2025 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY 30 MPH AND 40 MPH SPEED RESTRICTIONS ON VARIOUS ROADS, FRESTON, WOOLVERSTONE, CHELMONDISTON, SHOTLEY AND ERWARTON
Suffolk County Council has made an order for a temporary speed restriction on the following roads:
30mph speed restriction
• U1436 Church Road, Freston
• B1456 Holbrook Road, Freston
• B1456 Freston Hill, Freston
• B1456 Main Road, Woolverstone
• B1456 Main Road, Chelmondiston
• B1456 Shotley Road, Chelmondiston
• B1456 Road from 4115, Chelmondiston to Erwarton Walk, Shotley
• B1456 The Street, Shotley
• U4109 Bylam Lane, Chelmondiston from the B1456 for 100 metres southbound
• U4110 Richardsons Lane, Chelmondiston from the B1456 for 100 metres northbound
• U4116 Wades Lane, Shotley from the B1456 for 180 metres eastbound
• U4210 Erwarton Walk, Erwarton from the B1456 for 100 metres westbound
40mph speed restriction
• U4109 Bylam Lane, Chelmondiston from 100 metres south of the B1456 for 200 metres southbound
• U4110 Richardsons Lane, Chelmondiston from 100 metres north of the B1456 for 150 metres northbound
• U4116 Wades Lane, Shotley from 180 metres east of the B1456 for 200 metres eastbound
• U4210 Erwarton Walk, Erwarton from 100 metres west of the B1456 for 200 metres westbound
This is to facilitate traffic signals to be implemented safely. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
It is intended that these measures will operate from 29/10/2025 – 21/08/2026
but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U8013 NETHER STREET,
8014 FROM C694 TO 8013 AND U4929 HEAT ROAD, HESSETT
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the following roads in the following phases:
1. U8013 Nether Street, Hessett from no. 31 to the junction with 8014 from C694 to 8013 and the 8014 from C694 to 8013, Hessett from the junction with Nether Street to Lawneys Farm
2. U4929 Heath Road, Hessett from the junction with 8014 from C694 to 8013 to the junction with The Green.
This is to facilitate installation of a fibre network. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion routes will be:
1. 8014 from C694 to 8013, Hessett Road, Kinshall Green, Kingshall Street, High Rougham and vice versa
2. The Street, Beyton Road, Church Road, Quaker Lane, High Rougham, Nether Street and 8014 from C694 to 8013 and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from:
1. 29/10/2025 – 18/11/2025
2. 19/11/2025 – 09/12/2025.
If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).
