Seaford / Exceat / Eastbourne / Lower Willingdon - Temporary Closures & Suspension of One-Way Traffic Orders
What is happening?
EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
The East Sussex (A259 Eastbourne Road/ East Dean Road, Seaford/Exceat)
(Temporary 30 mph Speed Limit) Order 2025
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily restrict all traffic using the following length of road to a speed not exceeding 30 mph:
Temporary 30 mph Speed Limit
Eastbourne Road/East Dean Road – from Forrest View to Exceat Cottage.
The Order commences 25 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated the speed restriction will be in place between 25 October and 19 December 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U2297 Caburn Close, Eastbourne)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Caburn Close – for its full length.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.
The Order commences 27 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 27 and 31 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U7732 Broad Road, Lower Willingdon)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025 No.3
To allow Foxdown Construction Ltd to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Broad Road – from the junction with A2270 Eastbourne Road to the junction with U7930 Farmlands Avenue.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7732 Broad Road – C341 Wannock Lane – C40 Wannock Road – A2270 Eastbourne Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 27 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 27 October and 14 November 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U2156 Sydney Road/Melbourne Road, Eastbourne)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic and Suspension of One-way traffic) Order 2025
To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Sydney Road – for its entire length.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U2156 Sydney Road, Melbourne Road, Belmore Road and vice versa.
Suspension of One-way traffic (revert to two way) Sydney Road – for its entire length.
Melbourne Road – for its entire length.
The Order commences 30 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 30 and 31 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.
