TRANSPORT FOR LONDON PUBLIC NOTICE

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

THE A3 GLA ROAD (BOROUGH HIGH STREET, LONDON BOROUGH OF SOUTHWARK) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
  
1.   Transport for London hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2.   The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.

2.   The purpose of the Order is to enable railway bridge inspection works to take place at A3 Borough High Street. 

3.   The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle except pedal cycles from:

(1)  entering, exiting or proceeding in a southerly direction on Borough High Street between its junctions with Railway Approach and St Thomas Street;

(2)  turning right into Borough High Street from London Bridge Street. 

The Order will be effective at certain times from 10.00 PM on the 18th November 2025 until 6.00 AM on the 19th November 2025 or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.  The prohibition will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

4.   The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:

(1)  any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;

(2)  anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.

5.   At such times as the prohibition is in force an alternative route will be indicated by traffic signs for eastbound traffic on Eastcheap, via Great Tower Street, Byward Street, Minories, Goodman’s Yard, Mansell Street, Tower Bridge Approach, Tower Bridge Road, Great Dover Street and Borough High Street to normal route of travel. for eastbound traffic on Cannon Street and south-eastbound traffic on King William Street via Queen Victoria Street, Blackfriars Bridge, Southwark Street, Southwark Bridge Road and Marshalsea Road to normal route of travel. for HGVs over 18 Tonnes m.g.w, via King William Street, Monument Street, Fish Street Hill, Lower Thames Street, Upper Thames Street, Queen Street Place, Southwark Bridge and Southwark Bridge Road to normal route of travel.
