Carlisle, Temporary Pedestrian Prohibition For Riverbank Repair Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (FOOTPATH NO. 109078 IN THE CITY OF CARLISLE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Order made by Cumberland Council on 18 June 2024, which became operative on 26 June 2024, because of the likelihood of danger to the public due to riverbank erosion and to enable repair works to be carried out (“the Works”) and which would otherwise expire on 25 December 2025 (following a first extension) has been continued in force with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport until 25 December 2026.
The effect of the Order is to prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along an approx. 53 metre section of Public Footpath No.109078 at the Sheepmount in the City of Carlisle extending between Grid References: 339463 556724 and 339420 556686.
There is no suitable alternative route available for pedestrians on public highways. However, the landowner will provide an informal diversion around the sports pavilion which will be signed on the ground.
