Back Lane, Temporary Prohibition Of All Traffic For Utility Works

What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (BACK LANE, BARROW-IN-FURNESS) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out ("the Works"), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along that section of Back Lane, Barrow-In-Furness, from its junction with Rakesmoor Lane, extending in a westerly direction to its junction with Sowerby Avenue.

A suitable alternative route for all traffic will be signed and available as follows;

East Bound Traffic: Via the unrestricted section of Back Lane, Park Road, Walney Road, Hindpool Road, Abbey Road, Hawcoat Lane and Rakesmoor Lane.

West Bound Traffic: Via Rakesmoor Lane, Hawcoat Lane, Abbey Road, Hindpool Road, North Road, Ironworks Road, Walney Road, Park Road and the unrestricted section of Back Lane.

The Order will come into operation on 10th November 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 2 weeks and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
