Blencogo, Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Repair Works

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (C2010 BLENCOGO, NEAR WIGTON) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO.2) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that because of likelihood of danger to the public, as a result of a burst water main and to enable subsequent repair works to take place ("the Works"), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of the C2010 Blencogo, near Wigton from its junction with the C2046, extending in a north easterly direction for approx 1.4km.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and a suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the C2046, A596, Storth Brow and the unrestricted section of the C2010.

This follows emergency notices dated 17 September 2025 and 8 October 2025.

The Order will come into operation on 29 October 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for approx. 4 weeks between 0800 and 1700, each day and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
