What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14
THE A69 TRUNK ROAD
(HEXHAM ROAD JUNCTION TO ACOMB JUNCTION) (No.2)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the A69 Trunk Road, in the County of Northumberland, to enable technology works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start on Wednesday 12 November for 1 night, or until completed, and will take place between 8pm and 6am.
The effect of the Order will be to close, the:
(i) A69 eastbound carriageway from the centreline of the B6531 at Hexham Road Junction to the centreline of the A6079 at Acomb Junction, a distance of 1940 metres; and
(ii) layby adjacent to the A69 eastbound carriageway approximately 425 metres east of Constantius Bridge.
During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.
Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the prohibition (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes).
The Order comes into force on 11 November 2025 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
