Merton - Temporary Road Closures due to Level Crossing and Sewer Cleaning Works

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)

LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON

(WEST BARNES LANE, KT3)

(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) (NO. 6) ORDER 2025

1. The London Borough of Merton Council hereby give notice that to facilitate level crossing works at the Motspur Park Level Crossing on West Barnes Lane, KT3, they have made an Order, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic in the said road.

2. Whilst the works take place no person will:-

(a) cause or permit any vehicle to enter or proceed in West Barnes Lane, between a point 55 metres south-west of the Motspur Park level crossing and a point 20 metres north-east of that level crossing;

(b) cause or permit any vehicle to wait, including for the purpose of loading or unloading any vehicle in the length of West Barnes Lane specified in sub-paragraph 2(a) above.

(c) enter or proceed on foot in West Barnes Lane, from a point 20 metres south-west of the Motspur Park Level Crossing and a point 20 metres north-east of the said crossing.

3. The restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as will from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

4. An alternative route for diverted vehicular traffic will be via West Barnes Lane, Claremont Avenue, Burlington Road and West Barnes Lane, or vice versa.

5. Pedestrians affected by the road closure should proceed using Station Road, the Motspur Park pedestrian bridge(public right of way No. 130) and Claremont Avenue.

6. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal of the Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

7. Nothing in the Order will apply: -

(a) to any person carrying out the works or any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works;

(b) to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform; or

(c) to any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, subject to site conditions; or

(d) so as to prevent vehicular access to premises in or adjacent to the length of road specified in paragraph 2 above, insofar as access is reasonably practicable without interference with the works.

8. The Order will come into operation at 11.55pm on Monday 3rd November 2025 and remain in force until 7am on Friday 7th November 2025, with the works taking place each night between the hours of 11.55pm and 7am the following day.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)

(CROOKED BILLET, WIMBLEDON)

(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

1. The Council of the London Borough of Merton hereby give notice that to facilitate sewer cleaning works in Crooked Billet, SW19; they have made an Order, the effect of which will be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic in the said road.

2. During the works, no person will cause or permit any vehicle to:-

(a) enter or proceed in Crooked Billet, the north arm, from its northernmost junction with Woodhayes Road to the common boundary of Nos. 13 and 14 Crooked Billet; or

(b) wait, including for the purpose of loading or unloading any vehicle, in the road or length of road specified in sub-paragraph (a) above.

3. Any designated parking place situated in the road or length or road specified in paragraph 2 above will be suspended for the duration of the works in that road or length of road.

4. The restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as will from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

5. Nothing in the Order will apply to: -

(a) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; or

(b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform, a police community support officer in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer; or

(c) any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes; or

(d) any person requiring vehicular access to properties adjacent to the prohibited road or length of road insofar as access is reasonably practicable without interference with the said works.

6. Vehicular traffic affected by the road closure should proceed via Woodhayes Road.

7. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

8. The Order will come into force on Thursday 13th November 2025 and it is anticipated that the works will be carried out between 9am and 3.30pm that day. However, the Order will remain in force for a period of

3 months should further works be required.
