Ewell Road, Temporary Road Closure For Electrical Mains Connection Works

What is happening?

Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames - ROYAL BOROUGH OF KINGSTON UPON THAMES ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1) EWELL ROAD

  1. The Council of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames hereby gives notice that in order to facilitate Electrical Mains Connection works and because these works are being executed on or near the carriageway it has made an Order to the effect of which is summarised in paragraph 3 below.

  2. The Order will come into effect on 25th October 2025 and is expected to last to 7th May 2026 to complete, however the Order will remain in force for the maximum legal duration of 18 months or to be re-introduced should further works be required.

  3. When the works are taking place and the appropriate traffic signs are deployed the Order will temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic as follows from entering or exiting:

  • Ewell Road (Phase 1) - between its junction with Ditton Road and a point opposite property No. 198 Ewell Road;
  • Ewell Road (Phase 2) - between its junction with St Marks Hill and a point opposite property No. 198 Ewell Road.

  1. An alternative route for vehicular traffic whilst the prohibition is in place will be via: Phase 1 - Ditton Road, Upper Brighton Road, Kingsdown Road, Ewell Road, Browns Road, King Charles Crescent and Kings Charles Road.

Phase 2 - Oak Hill Crescent, Browns Road, King Charles Road, Hylton Road, Ewell Road, Oak Hill Road, Oakhill Grove, Glenbuck Road, South Bank, Kingsmead Road, Bryndale Road and South Terrace.

  1. Vehicles access to properties adjacent to the prohibition will be maintained at all times so far as reasonably practicable without interference with the said works.

  2. The prohibitions specified above apply only during such times and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations & General Directions 2016.
