Hertfordshire – Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures and Restrictions
What is happening?
HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:
(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN STAKE PIECE ROAD, ROYSTON) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Stake Piece Road, Royston from its junction with Briary Lane north westwards for a distance of approximately 141m (“the Road”), except for access.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 10 November 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF BECKFIELD LANE, SANDON) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Beckfield Lane, Sandon from a point 91m south west of its junction with Sandon Public Footpath No.007 south westwards for a distance of approximately 200m (“the Road”), except for access.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because the replacement of the existing telegraph pole is proposed to be executed near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 10 November 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT MEASURES ON UPPER KING STREET AND HIGH STREET, ROYSTON) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect on the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”) will be:
1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Upper King Street, Royston from its junction with George Lane north westwards for a distance of approximately 15m.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
2. The existing one way traffic system on High Street, Royston from its junction with Upper King Street north westwards to its junction with John Street, a distance of approximately 114m will be temporarily suspended to enable all vehicles to travel in both directions within this length of road, whilst works are in progress.
The Order is needed because utility repair works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 10 November 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE STREET, KELSHALL) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of The Street, Kelshall from its junction with Kelshall Public Footpath No.011 north westwards for a distance of approximately 103m (“the Road”), except for access.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because the replacement of an existing telegraph pole is proposed to be executed near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 11 November 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF MILL LANE, THERFIELD) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Mill Lane, Therfield from its junction with The Causeway north eastwards for its entire length (“the Road”), except for access.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 27 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN ROYSTON) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-
1. that length of Poplar Drive, Royston from its junction with Garden Close north westwards to its junction with Garden Walk, a distance of approximately 91m.
An alternative route will be via Garden Close, Icknield Way and Garden Walk.
2. that length of Dacre Green, Royston from its junction with Newmarket Road north eastwards and north westwards to its junction with Icknield Walk, a distance of approximately 127m.
An alternative route will be via Newmarket Road and Icknield Walk.
3. the road situated between Nos.16-26 Stake Piece Road, Royston from its junction with Stake Piece Road south westwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 27 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.
