Hertfordshire - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Infrastructure Works and Public Events

What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN ST ALBANS)

ORDER NO.2 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”):

1. that length of A1057 Hatfield Road, St Albans from a point in line with the north western boundary of No.126 Hatfield Road south eastwards for a distance of approximately 77m.

An alternative route will be via A1057 Hatfield Road, Beaconsfield Road, B691 (Victoria Street/Stanhope Road), Camp Road and A1057 Hatfield Road.

2. that length of Camp Road, St Albans from its junction with Ninedells Place south eastwards for a distance of approximately 47m.

An alternative route will be via Camp Road, A1057 Hatfield Road, Ashley Road and Camp Road.

3. that length of Marlborough Road, St Albans from its junction with A1081 London Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 81m.

An alternative route will be via A1081 London Road, Lattimore Road, B691 Victoria Street and Marlborough Road.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 3 November 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN REDBOURN DURING THE ‘REDBOURN FIREWORKS DISPLAY’) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:-

1. that length of The Common, Redbourn from its junction with Chequer Lane north eastwards to its junction with Fish Street, a distance of approximately 637m.

An alternative route will be via Lords Meadow, Crouch Hall Lane, Lamb Lane, High Street, B487 Redbourn Bypass, Chequer Lane, West Common and North Common.

2. that length of East Common, Redbourn from its junction with The Common southwards to its junction with Chequer Lane, a distance of approximately 275m.

An alternative route will be via Lords Meadow, Crouch Hall Lane, Lamb Lane, High Street, B487 Redbourn Bypass, Chequer Lane, West Common and North Common.

3. that length of North Common, Redbourn from its junction with The Common south westwards to its junction with Lybury Lane, a distance of approximately 354m.

An alternative route will be via Lords Meadow, Crouch Hall Lane, Lamb Lane, High Street, B487 Redbourn Bypass, Chequer Lane, West Common and North Common.

4. that length of Fish Street, Redbourn from its junction with The Common north eastwards to its junction with High Street, a distance of approximately 157m.

An alternative route will be via Lords Meadow, Crouch Hall Lane, Lamb Lane, High Street, B487 Redbourn Bypass, Chequer Lane, West Common and North Common.

5. that length of Lords Meadow, Redbourn from its junction with North Common north westwards to its junction with Snatchup, a distance of approximately 140m.

An alternative route will be via Lords Meadow, Crouch Hall Lane, Long Cutt and Snatchup.

6. that length of Lybury Lane, Redbourn from its junction with North Common south eastwards to its junction with The Common, a distance of approximately 157m.

An alternative route will be via Lybury Lane, The Terrace, Ridgeview, Snatchup, Long Cutt, Crouch Hall Lane, Lamb Lane, High Street, B487 Redbourn Bypass, Chequer Lane, West Common and North Common.

7. that length of The Common, Redbourn from its junction with North Common south eastwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 210m.

An alternative route will be via Lords Meadow, Crouch Hall Lane, Lamb Lane, High Street, B487 Redbourn Bypass, Chequer Lane, West Common and North Common.

8. that length of Monks Close, Redbourn from its junction with The Common north eastwards for its entire length.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles whilst the event takes place. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the event.

The Order is needed to ensure public safety and prevent accidents for the duration of the ‘Redbourn Fireworks Display’.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 8 November 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF A1081 LONDON ROAD, ST ALBANS)

ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of A1081 London Road, St Albans from its junction with the Orient Close roundabout south eastwards to its junction with Colindale Avenue, a distance of approximately 262m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via A1081 (London Road/Chequer Street/ St Peters Street), A1057 Hatfield Road, Ashley Road, Drakes Drive and A1081 London Road.

The Order is needed because bridge inspection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 10 November 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF GILLS HILL LANE, RADLETT) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Gills Hill Lane, Radlett from its junction with New Road southwards for a distance of approximately 90m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Loom Lane, New Road, B462 Watford Road and Gills Hill Lane.

The Order is needed because gas main repair works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 10 November 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS AND PUBLIC FOOTPATHS IN ST ALBANS DURING THE ‘ST ALBANS CATHEDRAL FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR’) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be:–

1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”):–

a) that length of Abbey Mill Lane, St Albans from its junction with Romeland south westwards for its entire length.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles whilst the event takes place. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the event.

b) that length of Orchard Street, St Albans from its junction with Abbey Mill Lane southeastwards for its entire length.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles whilst the event takes place. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the event.

2. To prohibit all pedestrians from using the following lengths of public footpath (“the Public Footpaths”):–

a) that length of St Albans City Public Footpath No.030 from its junction with St Michaels Street south eastwards to its junction with St Albans City Public Footpath No.034, a distance of approximately 664m.

An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the south side of St Michaels Street, the footway situated on the south side of Fishpool Street, the footway situated on the west side of Abbey Gateway, the footway situated on the west side of Abbey Mill Lane and St Albans City Public Footpath No.034.

b) that length of St Albans Public Footpath No.034 from its junction with St Albans City Public Footpath No.030 south westwards to its junction with St Albans City Public Footpath No.031, a distance of approximately 272m.

An alternative route will be via St Albans City Public Footpath No.034, St Albans City Public Footpath No.016, the footway situated on the east side of Grove Road, the footway situated on the west side of A5183 Holywell Hill and St Albans City Public Footpath No.038.

c) that length of St Albans Public Footpath No.031 from its junction with St Albans City Public Footpath No.034 north westwards to its junction with St Albans City Public Footpath No.032, a distance of approximately 599m.

An alternative route will be via St Albans City Public Footpath No.034, St Albans City Public Footpath No.033 and St Albans City Public Footpath No.032.

The Order is needed to ensure public safety and prevent accidents for the duration of the ‘St Albans Cathedral Fireworks Spectacular’.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 8 November 2025 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads and Public Footpaths.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF GROVE ROAD, HARPENDEN) ORDER NO.2 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Grove Road, Harpenden from its junction with Dark Lane north westwards for distance of approximately 115m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Grove Road, Grove Avenue, Meadway, Wheathampstead Road, Piggotshill Lane and Grove Road.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 29 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN ST ALBANS) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:–

1. that length of Camp Road, St Albans from its junction with Windermere Avenue south eastwards, north eastwards, south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with Liberty Walk, a distance of approximately 122m.

An alternative route will be via Camp Road, B691 (Stanhope Road/Victoria Street), Upper Lattimore Road, A1057 Hatfield Road, Ashley Road and Camp Road.

2. that length of Beresford Road, St Albans from its junction with Camp Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 10m.

An alternative route will be via Camp Road, Wellington Road, Cambridge Road and Beresford Road.

3. that length of Oxford Avenue, St Albans from its junction with Camp Road south eastwards for a distance of approximately 10m.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

4. that length of Lynton Avenue, St Albans from its junction with Camp Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 10m.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF NECTON ROAD, WHEATHAMPSTEAD) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Necton Road, Wheathampstead from a point in line with the southern boundary of No.69 Necton Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 50m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Necton Road, B653 Marford Road and Necton Road.

The Order is needed because utility repair works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 27 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN ST ALBANS) ORDER NO.2 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:–

1. that length of Mile House Lane, St Albans from its junction with Old Mile House Court south westwards, north westwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 371m.

An alternative route will be via Mile House Lane, A1081 London Road, Old London Road, Cottonmill Lane and Mile House Lane.

2. that length of B5378 Napsbury Lane, St Albans from its junction with Mile House Lane south westwards for a distance of approximately 91m.

An alternative route will be via Mile House Lane, A1081 London Road, A414 North Orbital Road and B5378 (Shenley Lane/Napsbury Lane) or via B5378 Napsbury Lane, Napsbury Lane, A414 North Orbital Road, A1081 London Road and Mile House Lane.

3. that length of New Barnes Avenue, St Albans from its junction with Mile House Lane south eastwards for a distance of approximately 58m.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 27 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF HARPENDEN ROAD, WHEATHAMPSTEAD) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Harpenden Road, Wheathampstead from a point 150m north west of its junction with Down Green Lane north westwards for a distance of approximately 30m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Harpenden Road, Brewhouse Hill, Church Street, B651 (High Street/Station Road), B653 Lower Luton Road, B652 Station Road, Milton Road, Topstreet Way, Piggottshill Lane, Wheathampstead Road and Harpenden Road.

The Order is needed because electrical connection works are proposed to be executed near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 27 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF LANGLEY GROVE, SANDRIDGE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Langley Grove, Sandridge from its junction with B651 High Street south eastwards to its junction with Woodcock Hill, a distance of approximately 634m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via B651 High Street, House Lane and Woodcock Hill.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 27 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF ST STEPHENS PUBLIC BRIDLEWAY NO.065) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians, pedal cycles and equestrian users from using St Stephens Public Bridleway No.065 from its junction with Smug Oak Lane north westwards for a distance of approximately 30m (“the Public Bridleway”).

There is no alternative route available for pedestrians, pedal cycles and equestrian users when the works are being carried out. However pedestrian, pedal cycle and equestrian user access to properties along this Public Bridleway will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Public Bridleway.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 30 October 2025 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Public Bridleway.
