Westmorland and Furness - Temporary Road Closures due to Utility Works

What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (WINDY HALL ROAD, KENDAL ROAD, SMITHY LANE, WINDERMERE AND COMPSTON STREET, AMBLESIDE) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road: -

(i) Windy Hall Road, Windermere, from its junction with Kendal Road (A5074), extending in a south easterly direction for a distance of approx. 70 metres. Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Windy Hall Road, Crook Road (B5284) and Kendal Road (A5074). Duration: From 10th November 2025 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTRO\W\16096)

(ii) Kendal Road (A5074), Windermere, from its junction with Ferney Green, extending in a southerly direction for a distance of approx. 420 metres. Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Kendal Road, Longtail Hill (B5285) and A592. Duration: From 10th November 2025 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTRO\W\16098)

(iii) Smithy Lane, Windermere, from its junction with Kendal Road (A5074), extending in a north westerly direction for a distance of approx. 105 metres. Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Smithy Lane, A592, Longtail Hill (B5285) and Kendal Road (A5074). Duration: From 10th November 2025 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTRO\W\16099)

(iv) Compston Street, Ambleside, from its junction with Church Street, extending in a north westerly direction for a distance of approx. 30 metres. Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Compston Street, The Slack, Compston Road, Rydal Road, Market Street and Church Street. Duration: From 17th November 2025 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTRO\W\16086)

The Order will come into operation on 10th November 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
