What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (A595 GRIZEBECK)

(TEMPORARY 20MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway improvement works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding at speeds in excess of 20 miles per hour along that section of the A595 Grizebeck from its junction with the C5011 to its junction with the U5086 in a north westerly direction for approx. 315m.

N.B. The 20 miles per hour speed restriction will operate where work is ongoing but the contractor’s operatives and plant are not on site. It is required to protect road users passing through restricted width traffic lanes.

No speed limit imposed by this Order will apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations.

The Order will come into operation on 29th October 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 10 months and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
