What is happening?

(B1052 Little Walden Road, Audley End Road, Littlebury, Saffron Walden) (30mph and 40mph Speed Limit) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under sections 84(1)(a) and (2), and Parts IV and Part III of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended)

Effect of the order: To Implement a ‘40mph Speed Limit’ (Currently a Restricted Road by virtue of streetlights for 181.8 metres, and National Speed Limit (derestricted) for 64.9 metres)

Road Description
B1052 Little Walden Road, Saffron Walden From a point approximately 65 metres south of its junction with Audley End Road, northwards for approximately 246.7 metres.

The Essex County Council (B1052 Little Walden Road, Audley End Road, Littlebury/Saffron Walden) (30MPH & 40MPH Speed Limit) Order 2021 is hereby revoked in its entirety. The restrictions contained in that Order shall continue in force by virtue of this new Order.

This Order will come into operation on: 28 October 2025

Application to the high court: Anyone who wishes to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act, or any instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within six weeks from the date of the making of the Order apply to the High Court for this purpose.

(Uttlesford District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On-Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) (Amendment No.33) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given Colchester City Council acting on behalf of the North Essex Parking Partnership in exercise of the delegated powers of the traffic authority Essex County Council granted under an Agreement dated 1st July 2022 has made the above Order under under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 4(1), 4(2), 32, 35, 45, 46, 49 and 53 and Parts III and IV of schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

The effect of the Order:

    1. To Introduce a Permit Holders Parking area between Four Gables and Pygthle Cottage, The Street Takeley.

  1. To amend The Essex County Council (Uttlesford District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On-Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019 to allow the properties detailed in Column 3 of the table in the Schedule 5 to this Notice to be able to purchase permits for the proposed zones listed in Column 1 of that table.

This Order will be incorporated into The Essex County Council (Uttlesford District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On-Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019 by replacing the numbers TL545 210 revision 1 replaced by revision 2 including Tile TL545 212.

Date of operation: The Order will come into operation on 15th December 2025.

(Butlers Lane, Saffron Walden) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Butlers Lane, Saffron Walden in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 60m north west of its junction with Ashdon Road for a distance of approximately 60m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 25th November 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (FM4955755045 – National Highways). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while structure inspection works are undertaken by National Highways.

No diversion route is available.

The Order will come into effect on 30th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Cole End Lane, Sewards End) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Cole End Lane, Sewards End in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 390m south west then south east of its junction with The Dreys for a distance of approximately 100m in a south easterly then southerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 19th November 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WGGF6H8L – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Cole End Lane, B1053, B184 and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 30th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Duck Street, Wendens Ambo) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Duck Street, Wendens Ambo in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Rookery Lane to a distance of approximately 30m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 17th November 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (KAI401RF5297894-RC – Gigaclear). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while ducting works are undertaken by Gigaclear.

An alternative route is available via Duck Street, B1039, B1383, Rookery Lane and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 30th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Littlebury Green Road, Littlebury) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Littlebury Green Road, Littlebury in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 530m south west of its junction with Chapel Green Road for a distance of approximately 85m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 28th November 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WGG3KM40B – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole and overhead works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Littlebury Green Road, Chestnut Avenue, London Road, Station Road, Royston Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 30th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Park Road, Little Easton) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Park Road, Little Easton in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 395m south west of its junction with Mill End for a distance of approximately 210m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 17th November 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX06164267JB – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

The alternative route is available via Laundry Lane, Duck Street and vice versa (with access only into Park Road).

The Order will come into effect on 30th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Cow Lane, Great Chesterford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Cow Lane, Great Chesterford in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 40m south west of its junction with Burton Close for a distance of approximately 50m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 14th November 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WGG3NRV92 – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while network works are undertaken by Openreach.

No alternative route is available.

(Old Mead Road, Henham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Old Mead Road, Henham in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 20m north of its junction with Lodge Road to a distance of approximately 100m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 6th November 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WGG2K37K – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Old Mead Road, Station Road, B1051, Hall Road, Fullers Lane, Tye Green Road, Belmer Road, Burton End Road, Church Road, B1051, B1383, Ugley Road, North Hall Road, Old Mead Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 16th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Various Roads, District of Uttlesford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) & (Grove Hill, Stansted) (Temporary Suspension of 7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) Streetworks No.5) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

    1. To temporarily close those lengths of road in the District of Uttlesford as detailed in the Schedule.

  1. To temporarily suspend the 7.5T weight restriction entering Grove Hill, Stansted from Lower Street as cited in "The Essex County Council (B1051 Grove Hill, Stansted Mountfitchet) (Weight Restriction) Order 1987" for the duration of the closures only.

The works are scheduled to commence after 16th October 2025, as stated on a valid permit. The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on One.Network. The works will be undertaken in phases with each road closure required to facilitate full fibre installation and enabling works and equipment for use by the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be clearly signed for each phase. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while micro ducting works are undertaken by Gigaclear.

The Order came into effect on 16th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close those lengths of road in the District of Uttlesford as detailed in the Schedule.

The works are scheduled to commence after 16th October 2025, as stated on a valid permit. The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on One.Network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.

The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while mains renewal works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Wicken Road, Clavering in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 310m north east of its junction with Clatterbury Lane for a distance of approximately 90m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 3rd November 2025 for 7 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX06162548JB – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new water connection works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

An alternative route is available via B1038, B1368, A10, A120, B1383, B1038 and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 16th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
